#24 Michigan (5-3, 8-3) at #5 Wisconsin (8-0, 11-0) Post Game
« on: November 12, 2017, 02:38:57 PM »
time has finally been announced, will be a 12pm ET/11 am CT kick off on Fox. Bit of a break there for Michigan. Game is going to be hard enough as it is, but a night-game with a freshman QB in that environment would've just been that much tougher.

Michigan is very banged up.

Out for the year
QB Wilton Speight - Neck
WR Tarik Black - Foot
TE Nick Eubanks – Neck
LT Grant Newsome - Knee/Leg

Questionable
CB Lavert Hill – Concussion- missed 2nd half vs Maryland - could miss Wisconsin game
WR Kekoa Crawford – missed last 3 games
WR Nico Collins – missed Maryland game
RB Karan Higdon - limped off field vs Maryland in 2nd QTR didn't return
RB Ty Isaac – missed last 2 games
RG – Mike Onwenu – missed last 2 games
DE Rashan Gary - limped off field vs Maryland in 3rd QTR didn't return

Probable
CB David Long - been dealing with knee and groin injuries all year
WR Grant Perry - missed last week, barely played against Maryland
TE Ty Wheatley - missed previous 2 weeks, barely played vs Maryland

yaaaaaa......Michigan bout to get BLOWN out methinks.

11 AM?

There's yet even proof that Big Jim loves him some Wolverine.

Very disappointing that they put this game so early. It should have been the 2:30 game.

Gameday will be in Madison, by the way.

UW, out for the year:

LB Jack Cichy, WR Quintez Cephus, TB Taiwan Deal, WR Jazz Peavy, LB Zach Baun, WR George Rushing, RB Sam Brodner, LB Mason Stokke.

Guys who did not play yesterday and are still questionable include S Dakota Dixon, NT Garrett Rand and DE Isiah Loudermilk.

Don't the tv network execs decide the kick off times? I doubt Big Jim has much of a say.

B1G cashes the big tv checks from Fox, no? Fox reserves the rights to put the games on at what time they want them on. My guess is Fox wants maximum eye balls and ad dollars for that 12pm ET slot.

Game Day being there is great. I haven't really watched Game Day like I used to. Feels like it's lost some of it's luster. Fowler was better hosting that show then calling live games. Corso is like 150 years old and he should probably go. At least he's not Lou Holtz though.

It's probably the best game of the weekend. Should have been the 2:30 PM Fox Game. Nobody on the West Coast or in the Mountains will be watching this one, being so early.

Big Jim is a 49 percent partner with Fox.

I think MDot is right that the TV networks decide these things. I'm interested as to why that time. There's hardly a great game in the evening, and most of the games as yet unassigned are at best on that level.

Very odd, though I do like how we're all prone to assuming someone's always trying to get one over on us.

(Eyeballing it, that night spot either goes to TCU at Texas Tech or Arizona Oregon. Gross)

you'll hear no disagreement from me. Especially with Game Day being there. It probably should've been a night game to be honest. If they want to maximize ratings.
But I seriously doubt Jim Delany had anything to do with the time that game is being played.

I'll be pulling for the Badgers in this one, but I have a weird feeling that Michigan might some how prevail.

Should be a good game. Classic Big Ten slobber knocker.

I forgot to mention LB Chris Orr, who did not play yesterday. He was still questionable and probably will be again this week.

But, the best defensive coordinator in the conference (country?) keeps on keeping on.

Some team is gonna be looking at him for their head coach before too much longer. UW has to do whatever it can to keep him.

I used to be a huge fan. Jim Delany sucks at everything but making money.

Harbaugh has yet to win a really big game, this presents him with a great opportunity.

I'm pulling for the Badgers, well, because I hate um but also to set up a monster BIG title game.

Be interesting to see the badger o line vs a pretty good UM d line. I think whoever wins that battle pulls this one out.

I got a weird feeling UM figures it out and pulls off the upset 20-17

Hope you're right, but I don't see it. I just didn't see enough out of Peters and that passing game to make me think they can pull it off.

Michigan DL is kinda over-hyped. They have 3 excellent players and huge drop off after those 3 and the depth just isn't there. It's really just 3 guys and that's it. Hurst, Winovich, and Gary are all playing at a high level. But after them? Nada. Bryan Mone has been MIA all season- I've rarely seen him out there. I don't know what's going on there if it's injuries or he's in the doghouse. The other guys in the DL rotation are either young as hell and still kinda raw like Aubrey Solomon and Kwity Paye- who both show athletic flashes but are true frosh- or are just another guy like soph. Carlo Kemp-who probably should've redshirted last year and is probably nothing more than a depth player. The biggest disappointment has been Lawrence Marshall not improving at all and Bryan Mone disappearing from the face of the earth. They needed both of those guys to show up this year to have a great DL. Neither one of them have shown up at all this year.

Wisconsin opens as 10 pt favorites. Surprised that line isn't higher. I don't think this is gonna be a close one guys.

The Networks (which have rights to the league games) determine the drafting order of games, before the season.   There are a handful of games, which are slotted before the season, these are usually the OOC games (we all know this, ELA posts these as they are known), then a few other conference games' kickoff times are set (but not necessarily which network),  this is more recent trend in the B1G, as the league began to embrace more night games.   Once that is done,  these networks often utilize a 'six day' window (they only have so many to use), which really allows the top selecting network up until six days before kickoff to choose or select their game.  The exception is the aforementioned night games.  B1G doesn't permit six day window holds for night games selections

btw: Matt Sarzyniak has a great blog, and tracks all of this all year.  Weeks ago he guessed Fox had the top choice, based on a comment made by Joel Klatt (analyst saying he'd be at the game).  He wasn't clear on the time slot though. The Fox options were 11 or 3.    As you all know Fox doesn't care about GameDay.

My money is on Wisconsin.

Someone from the B1G has to represent in the playoff.

Smooth sailing the rest of the way.
