This never gets old. One guy. 3 downs. 3 sacks.

That game was fun.

Too bad it didn’t come together for him health-wise.

All the games were a lot more fun back then.

I mean, we just got a lot more of the Iowa and NW games from that year … but with worse defense and at a higher price.

I'd rather see a new Chancellor in place before they hire a new AD. But things in Madison are always backwards, or at best, sideways.

Wonder if that speaks to an expectation of a less powerful Chancellor an expected long chancellor search.

In order to get an accurate assessment of teams heading into 2026, Athlon asked coaches in the Big Ten to talk anonymously about their opponents.

Note: These scouting reports come directly from coaching staffs, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Athlon’s editorial staff.

WISCONSIN

“They scored 81 points in nine conference games. I don’t care who your quarterback is. That speaks to a lot of bigger issues than just the quarterback position. There are teams in the conference who could not throw a single pass and score more than nine points per game. It also speaks to, defensively, your ability to make turnovers, and special teams, your ability to make kicks. I thought it was a whole package thing.”

“Truthfully, I was surprised that both Wisconsin and Maryland decided to run it back with their head coaches. I wasn’t really impressed with either one of those teams. It almost felt like they didn’t really know who the next guy was gonna be, so they decided they’d rather have a year to prepare a move like that.”

There is a reason (and reasons) the AD is gone.

Is this the last year for ickell?

It amazes me that he managed to hire 5 new coaches into this shitshow.

Has he been told by someone other than the AD that he is safe?

It's hard to understand.

Those coaches were watching the same team that I was.

"Truthfully, I was surprised," too. I think McIntosh thought that his job was tied to Fickell's, so he needed to try to get Fickell to work out. There should be a lot more "investment" this year, and a much easier schedule. If there isn't significant improvement on the field, the new AD will have all the cover needed to move on.

Terrible QBs, bad O line, unimpressive RBs outside one who got hurt. That’s a bad recipe.

Tight ends were decent enough and receivers were talented, but hard to get a read on.

If he actually thought that was true, it would’ve been a real sign he was a lost case. Getting a restart could’ve given him more runway. But it sounded like he just wouldn’t give up the idea it could work.
