When I was in college, terms meant you had completed X hours.  I don't think they really mattered except getting past freshman as a designation.  Freshmen couldn't live "off campus", by the rules.  When my sister was there, freshmen couldn't drive legally in Clarke County.  UGA football players might benefit from that rule.

I was given a waiver to live off campus as a freshman - my cousin's basement

he was an associate professor of criminal justice at UNL
