Other than the obvious geographic problem, why is everyone so down on Oregon? Because they have money and they are good?

Anything else?
The B1G helmet programs are crying that their shiny helmets are going to lose recruiting battles to Oregon's shiny gold doubloons.

MSU also added a 2023 DE signee for Oregon State, who they beat USC, Arizona, ASU and BYU for, but took his 2 year mission instead.  Guessing he is very far from game shape, but he was a borderline 4* recruit at the time

Not sure how many people listen to the Locked On college football podcasts, but they do a "Big Ten crew" once a week, where they bring in a bunch of team specific hosts together.  The OSU guy is a little too cocky, the MSU guy is the biggest chicken little, the IU guy is just happy to be here, the Michigan guy can't ever do it because he's too busy.  The hosts literally match their schools perfectly.  And the Oregon guy, whenever he's on, provides nothing, and just dumps on other schools for no reason.  They all seem to hate him, particularly the Washington guy.  If he's as close a match to the fan base as the others, I get it

Curious.

Oregon, as a university, is a little less prestigious than Washington, USC, and UCLA. But the people I know who went there love it. I can't say that I get a real bad vibe from the people I know who are Oregon Ducks. Washington has a bit of a Michigan-like feel. It's a strong school academically, and for football it has a strong history. Lots of U-Dub fans who are a little more impressed with the program than probably they should be. U-Dub fans often look down on Ducks because Oregon has definitely benefitted from the Phil Knight era, and pre-Knight, the football program wasn't much to crow about. So the Dawgs see them as new money.

I think USC/UCLA was more of the panic move.  Nobody in LA gives a shit about them.  Once you grabbed them, whatever, go get the two programs with actual fanbases
USC is a blue blood that turns on national television sets.  Nobody cares about Oregon or Washington.

I have ALWAYS despised them, before they were even any good. My sincere hope was that with the PAC imploding and B1G & SEC taking over the world that Oregon would get left conference-less and die. But nope. Morons in the B1G threw them a life line. And for what? They bring nothing to the table.

what was the other option? let them go to the SEC so that conference gains more power and eventually swallows all other conferences?
SEC would've never taken them.

If they win a Natty this year, do you still say the same thing?

Ohio State loses 5* CB Na’eem Offord to Oregon. Oregon also coming after Michigan TE commit Andrew Olesh who is a 4* and top 50 overall player in the nation who will be signing on Friday.

I bitched and moaned not to include them. Worst thing the B1G could've possibly done was add Oregon & Washington. Should've just kept it at 16 with USC & UCLA. Oregon in the B1G with Dan Lanning coaching and Phil Knight's money is going to be a pain in the fucking ass for the foreseeable future. Was dumb as fuck to let them in, should've never invited them and let them starve and die out slowly and forced Lanning to jump to an SEC job.
Easy come easy go.  That was expected ( although most thought it would be to Auburn)

But OSU picked up 2 flips.  A 4 RB and DE from UCLA.
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

I think Oregon is a bigger brand than USC is now

No way.

USC draws eyeballs even when they suck.  If/when Oregon sucks, nobody's watching them.  They're a lot like Virginia Tech was in the late 90s/early 2000s.  But USC is a true blueblood that people will watch even when they're down.

yes, I would. And they won't win the Natty. Oregon has never won a Natty in it's history. better Oregon teams than this have failed and that was before they had to deal with the gauntlet of a B1G CCG + 12 team playoff.

Texas, Georgia, or Ohio State will win it all imo.

Nah. They might win a lot more as of recently but they aren't a bigger brand than USC.

I think that might just be a factor of cable cutters being younger.  USC was very cool for like 5 years, but they've been otherwise irrelevant for 30+ years.  Oregon is cool, my kid wants Oregon gear.  Nobody wants USC gear
