2020 NBA Restart
« on: July 30, 2020, 06:55:38 PM »
For the life of me can't find the old thread. In any event, the NBA is back and of course Rudy Gobert scored the first basket. No fans, but they have digital fans in the stands. And a socially distanced bench.

The team that got this shut down vs. the team that's the reason that this isn't just a 16 team playoff restart.

Having a lazy day and actually watching some NBA.  I can't say I understand how their restart is working, but whatevers.  In any event, with no crowd, the buzz at the end of the game is almost nonexistent, and the constant fouling is even more an irritation.  Makes me think they should have instituted the Elam Ending.

This whole "finish the regular season" just to allow Zion to play makes no sense.  The NHL got the restart format right.

Also as someone who doesn't religiously watch the NBA, I keep looking at their jerseys to see who these guys are and their jersey says "Say Her Name" and I keep thinking for a second that's his name

I said the same to my buddies.  That I thought I was a bigger NBA fan than I was, and not getting name confirmation has revealed that.

the NBA is garbage.

Nothing (but) Bitches Association.

It’s a women’s game, and it’s boring af to watch.

That's the game I was watching - it was good to the extent that I had no clue what the stakes were for either team

The NHL format is great and the way they have scheduled it from a programming standpoint has been genius.   It is very March Madness like.

This nba thing feels like an exhibition and the whole name and theme is distracting at best and anything from alienating to artificially choreographed at worst.     I think they really are in a bubble.

And that's the problem.  We are sports starved, but the MLB is giving us a season, and the NHL is giving us a playoff.  The NBA is trying a weird regular season finish, and hoping we remember what was going on when this all shut down.

Honestly, their plan would have been just as safe in April.  They should have just done it then.

Really? I’ve pretty passively tuned in and generally found games competitive and enjoyable. I suppose the Playoffs will be in a week or so, and that will be interesting

Looks more like an Antifa rally than a sporting event.

Hard pass.

The amount of basketball at Antifa rallies is notably higher than I thought. Overall athleticism  too.
