We have a coach that inherited an empty roster. We lost 30 scholarship players to the transfer portal and also inherited a team under NCAA doghouse.
We lose to an experienced team loaded with 5th ,6th and even a couple of 7th year seniors thats had the same coach and system for 4 years and we already have fair weather fans wanting to jump ship
After the first loss.
Some sound advice...cheer for Bama and you'll always be happy.........until they lose a game.
I started this, so I guess I’ll respond.

You make good points.  In fact, they ARE the point.

How much longer are we going to stay in the sorry state you competently catalogued?

I’m not jumping ship on this TEAM.  I’m jumping ship on UT FOOTBALL.

It brings no pleasure any more.  It’s embarrassing.  More than that — it’s WEIRD.  Predictably so.

I mean, that returned TD, that turned out to be a ball at the one… because of a penalty on THEM… just idiomatic.

I wasn’t going to watch today’s game.  But wound up turning it on late in the first.  We had the ball.  Apparently, we went from second and goal at the 2, to 4th and goal at the 30.  Eked through a 47-yd. FG.

Hold ‘em to a FG.  Then Milton gets sacked, hurt, and fumbles in the their red zone.

To our credit, we kept holding them to FGs.  For while.  Or did they score a TD on that drive?  Can’t remember.

Watched the rest of the half.  We did have the exciting pitch and catch TD.  But that FG return… oh, boy…

Anyway… didn’t watch the rest of the half.  Wasn’t interested.  And I’ll be SURE not to watch the game in the Swamp.  Ugh.

Look — if we ever break this string of mediocrity, I’ll be back.

But I’m a Tennessee fan.  I didn’t sign up to watch this endless parade of UK And Vandy teams from the 90s wearing orange unis…

The endless cycle will never end as long as the fan base gives up on a coach after one loss that was extremely competitive.
I would feel worse had we been steamrolled by a far superior team.
The errors made ( and there were many) are systamatic of an inexperienced team with a new coach and new system.
Thats the bad news.. the good news is that those errors are all correctable.

Always been a TN fan and always will. No jumping ship. The last many years, very frustrating and we all want better.

Moved from TN to North AL in 1985. I recall that you are a recent resident. We had some fine years and a nice streak against the Bammers when it was really fun to be here.

Looking forward to the turnaround and giving the AL fans crap again. I have lots saved up.

Same old clown show.

The keystone cops find new inventive ways to shoot themselves in the foot.

The offensive system seems to produce.  That’s a positive.

Seems the touted “QB guru” Huepel has Jeremy Pruitt disease, however, and that’s unfortunate.
Starting the 3rd best QB on the roster.  Guess he didn’t see what all of American saw against Bowling Green?  Or what Michigan saw for a couple years before letting Milton walk.  Seems to be a disturbing new trend for UT coaches.  Identify the shittiest QB on the roster, and start him come hell or high water.

In regard to Overthrow Joe, I’m reminded of John Deere slogan from recent history.

I’m certainly not advocating that.

And I’m not “giving up” on anything.

Other than WATCHING.  I just can’t take any more crappy football.

But I admire your steadfast loyalty.  It’s what UT football is all about.  I hope someday, SOON, we have a product on the field again that merits it.  Like harv, I’ll be there with full support.

But we’ve just been mired in mediocrity for too long.  I barely remember imposing UT teams.  2015, ’16, were not bad,  But then you have to go back to ’07…

Just too damn long.  Too much disappointment.  Too many crushed expectations.

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m Orange through and through.  I couldn’t change my allegiance to UT, any more than I could change my sexual preference.

But I just don’t care much any more.  My “wife” has let herself go.  I got better things to do.  But if she loses a few pounds, and puts on a negligee — we’ll talk.  ( ^ ;

By the looks of the stands, and butts in seats, plenty have already come to your conclusion….there must be better ways to spend free time and money.

Much the same way you have always shunned science when you didn't like its results.

Too bad there aren't websites you can link that site an alternate outcomes for the games.  www.maketennesseegreatagain.com

Fuzz, forgive me for being blunt, but you don't know shit about science.  I could say the same about math and economics.   Stick to your knitting, which is probably Journalism or English Lit.

This.  They made it a very uneconomic deal.  Put out a crappy product and then demand Super Bowl priced tickets.  Gotta get butts in seats to create excitement and develop a better homefield advantage.  At this point, I'd be happy with teams going 9-3 or perhaps a double-digit win season every once in a while.

But who wants to pay $500+ per tick per game for an experience like that for the day?
The highlights for me have been the pre-game tailgate before the game begins this year.

I'm with you VB I can no longer watch the shit show being put on the field trying to call it football.

It isn't as much lack of talent with players as lack of talent at coaching. People keep making excuses for failures but the failure was a coach playing the wrong quarterbacks when already knowing they had issues.

But what coach in their right mind brings in then starts two second string quarterbacks ahead of what was already on the roster.

Two quaterbacks who lost their starting jobs at their respective schools at Michigan and VT for the same shit we are now seeing at Tennessee over throws and turnovers.

Over Throw Joe has been doing the same thing all the way back in high school and he isn't going to improve or he would have already. Turn Over Hooker lost his starting job at VT for what we saw yesteday, fumbles and intereceptions.

Who gives a damn as to wheter a QB can run the ball we need one that can RUN the offense who can complete passes down field and not turn the ball over.

I'm sick of this JG crap of thinking we need a running QB.  It hasn't produce a damn thing and what we have is just another Tater Head who don't know anymore than the last moron we had for head coach.

Yeah and we want beat another ranked team or even a good team until we win the next world war either with what we keep getting for coaches at UT.

Hell we could have kept JG and had the same results with the same stats at QB.
