After today…
« on: October 24, 2020, 07:56:11 PM »

I have decided that football is a cesspool of toxic masculinity and white privilege, and should be summarily cancelled.

That is all…

Cancel culture hit the Vols early.

Right after the 2007 season.

Barry elected in ‘08.  Coincidence?   Blame Obama.

There is a weird correspondence between the fortunes of America, and our football team — “America’s Team”.  The Volunteers.

In 2001, both appeared ready to assert dominance in their respective spheres.

The Vols had a chance to capture the leadership of the SEC, having learned to vanquish their most heated rivals —  UF (Spurrier) and Bama.  Auburn, UGA, LSU?  We set the bar for them, under the dean of SEC coaches, NC-winner Phil Fulmer.  A second crown in 3 years was ours for the taking.

On the national stage, our fury was set to be unleashed on the heathen barbarians who had inflicted an egregiously ruthless and unprovoked terrorist attack upon us.  And their supporters.

Gradually, things went wrong over the next 7 years.  We lost our way.  We began to doubt our own destiny.  The forces that sought to destroy us gained in power and position.

2008 was the nadir.  For the nation.  For the Vols.

And it has only gotten steadily worse since then.

I am at the point where I despair of seeing a return to greatness for either our program, or our nation, in my lifetime.

Oddly, I can accept the latter, as being part of God’s program.

The former is another matter.  I had hoped to take some solace — just a little — over the inevitable collapse of our nation, by enjoying a much-delayed return to football relevance.

I am at the point, after this latest false front, in which I truly thought we’d turned the corner — “our OL!  Our recruiting!  The change in culture!  We’re ready to take on ANYBODY” —

I’ve just don’t have any enthusiasm left for this program.

What a shame.

We SUCK.

Hurry up, basketball…

It really is a kick to the groin every single year.

I fall for it every time, like this guy:

If 2008 was a nadir, it cannot have gotten worse since obviously.

Winning cures all ills, duh.

Another 8 game winning streak against inferior competition would do wonders, temporarily.

We will likely be 4-6 this year.   The kids will be disheartened.

This a basketball school. Has been for years.

Maybe Obama was right...it was all Bush's fault and now it's Trump's fault.....it's Russian collusion.
Look closely...........Saban looks like a Ruskie.

Arkansas is showing quite a bit of moxie this year.  That game may be 50-50.

A&M and Auburn are all over the place, probably 50-50 games.

Vandy is Vandy, the Vols should win unless they get totally demoralized.

Florida can score a lot of points.

I see 2.5 more wins.

There is no white privilege in SEC or UT football 90% of the players are black.

University of Tennessee has the same problem as our government corruption at the highest level. We have people running the university that are as corrupt as the federal government with their lack of integrity and dishonesty while stabbing their friends in the back.

It's about power and control with those donating the most money controlling the politics of both government and UT such as the big donors like the Haslam family.

Those same people have been in charge for decades that's why we saw the fiasco that got John Currie fired with the hiring of their buddy Phat Phil who hired Tater Head as coach.

Only in the world of power and politics do we continually see bad decisions made while those who make them remain in power though thousands suffer the consequences of their actions.

At my age I will never see the country return to the greatness it once had or Tennessee ever be relevant in football again.

I don't watch basketball it's been corrupted to the point it's little more than wrestling with a ball thrown in.
If everyone is thinking alike then somebody isn't thinking.
