Well, we jumped all over Florida, early.

They have a D.  We don't.  Big difference.

When we recruit one...

Was hoping PSU would beat OSU, setting up a 1 vs. 2 next week --

IF we can beat UK.  BIG if...

A little worried about tonight.  If they can generate enough 3 and outs --

they win.  Period.  Our O is predicated on getting that initial first down, and getting rolling with tempo...

And our D is not good enough to stop anybody good.

Whatever happens, it's been a helluva ride so far.  #3 in late October.  Unbelievable.

And the future -- if there IS a future -- is BRIGHT for UT football.  We got us a coach.  And he's gonna be a great one.

D shows up in the second half this year. Very refreshing.

I'm telling you -- there's a change in the air.

We get our usual WEIRD ass calls -- offensive pass interference.  Wha--??? Even the announcers said they didn't see it.  Derails our second drive.

Holding???  On a freeking EXTRA POINT???  55 years of watching football.  Never seen it before.  Then our FG kicker doinks the PAT.

This has been "here we go again" territory for YEARS.

This team?  Line back up.  Score.  Makes no difference at all.

We might get brought back to earth next week.

But we might NOT.

Competitive games often revolve around turnovers, it's tough to win if you lose that battle 3-0.

there are two flavors of turnovers.. an offensive whoopsie and those defensively forced... i guess there could be one in the middle somewhere.  UT forced those t/o's, i'm surprised to say.  one- the critical one- was because of aggressive coverage and a man in the same location.. "Scheme puts the player in position- talent makes the play"- both those were present there.  it was a 50/50 ball when it was released, it was very well covered and snatched off the deflection- and that is a definitive forced t/o... the others were due to great coverage and aggressiveness of defenders as well... they damn sure weren't a gift such as a mishandled handoff where a LB scoops and scores ala the bama game.

speaking of the upcoming game... the big one (in terms of importance)... I flipped a rock over and had a peek- something i've not done in many seasons... and i saw----

UT goes up 28-0 on mighty UGA by the first of the second quarter- UGA hits the boards with a score to make the half 28-7... the third is a difficult time for our fellas- as bad as UGA's first third of the game... late in the 4th it's 35-28 UGA- it finishes 42-35 as UT is laid low.... i want to be wrong about this, y'all, but it was in stone.

that was the first complete game of the season... the O was what it is with it's identity intact, the freakin D decided to plays lights out and hold mighty Levi's Strauss to 90yds passing, and special teams (except for the kicker) were great... they turned in a helluva gamecard last night.  it makes me damn proud of them and to see they're improving with each game- not regressing (ala aTm), not holding steady (ala UF), but marked improvement with each game in each part of the game.

what CJH has accomplished is astounding.  truly astounding by any mark.

UGA has some key players hurt, or apparently hurt, on defense.  The Vols seem to be getting healthier.  LB Nolan Smith for UGA may have a separated shoulder, he's a key piece of their D.  Jalen Carter player some at NT yesterday.  I saw the line, I'd take the points and the Vols, I think they have a very good shot at winning, and a pretty easy schedule after this one.

It helped to have 3 DBs and one OT back and healthy

However there continues to be improvement week in and week out  across the board.

I think part of it is the team attitude, one game at a time and what can we do to be better. Two seasons under Pruitt embarrassed them.

President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”
