Tennessee baseball, led by coach Tony Vitello, is currently battling LSU for the top spot in the 2027 recruiting class, with both programs holding 11 commitments ranked in the top 100 nationally.
Top Infield Commitments The Volunteers have secured a strong infield core, including three of the top 10 players in the class:
  • Dylan Seward: Ranked No.  1 nationally, this switch-hitting shortstop from California is considered a top-tier prospect with elite bat speed and defensive instincts.
  • Max Hemenway: Ranked No. 3 nationally, this polished left-handed shortstop from Washington is known for his contact skills and strike-zone awareness.
  • Leo Nockley: Ranked No. 9 nationally, this advanced left-handed shortstop from Pennsylvania projects as a middle infielder with quick hands and impact hitting.
  • Banks Addison: Ranked No. 33 nationally, this in-state shortstop from Tennessee has shown consistent barrel contact and power potential.
Top Outfield and Catching Commitments Tennessee has also added significant talent to the outfield and behind the plate:
  • Sebastian "Sushi" Wilson: Ranked No.  27 nationally, this left-handed hitter from Illinois offers big power and plus speed.
  • Caden Dawson: Ranked No.  49 nationally, this 6-foot-2 left-handed hitter from Georgia provides strong power potential and corner outfield defense.
  • Jayden Pearl: Ranked No.  111 nationally, this in-state right-handed hitter from Mt. Juliet brings high-end bat speed.
  • Blake Lundy: Ranked No.  30 nationally, this 6-foot-2 catcher from Chattanooga is the second-ranked prospect in Tennessee and recently committed in September 2025.
Recent Additions and Visits In early September 2025, Tennessee added five new commits, including left-handed pitcher Cooper Burti (No.  247), right-handed pitcher Brady Buenik (No.  65), and right-handed pitcher Quinn Fitzpatrick (No.  143). The program also hosted eight top-30 prospects during a major recruiting weekend for the Georgia football game, including high-ranked pitchers Connor Salerno (No.  11), George Ferguson (No. 15), and Connor Wells (No.  29), as well as infielder Chubb Jones (No.  22) and outfielder Kyler Meccage (No.  10).
