At least the Lady Vols beat Bama 62-44 https://utsports.com/news/2021/12/30/womens-basketball-no-7-9-ut-opens-sec-play-with-62-44-win-over-alabama.aspx
President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

Yall realize UT basically flipped the NCAA the bird over Pruitts bags of cash... many schools are doing so for other circumstances.  A matter of fact some coaches are straight up talking smack about the NCAA on camera (see NCST coach response about UCLA hiding behind the Kung fu flu).

I'd be interested to see if the schools suffering from consistently bad refereeing are ones who've all but told the NCAA to pound sand.

Of course UT has been on their shit list since the mid nineties when the professor on campus made claims the NCAA investigated and investigated and investigated. . And investigated... and found nothing.

Self investigate? Self report?  Go eff yourself NCAA... (ncaa says "yeah, well, that was pass interference big guy, and though a whistle wasn't blown our mind reading software determined the line judge was thinking forward progress was stopped already.  He decided that as a course of potential action and contingency even prior to the snap truth be told)...

"...and though a whistle wasn't blown our mind reading software determined the line judge was thinking forward progress was stopped already."

Perfect.

Was trying to come up with a way to describe it.  You did.

WI like Heupel, a lot. He has changed the culture and made the Vols fun to watch and cheer for again.

However, his end of half and end of game play selection and clock management may be the worst I’ve ever seen.

That game should have been ended by an easy FG in regulation, but for some unfathomable reason —- our coach is unaware that he can take timeouts, and that he needed only about 10-15 yards for a manageable FG attempt for the win. Instead, he inexplicably opts for 2 straight low percentage go routes to the end zone, when 10 yds and 3 pts would do the job.

Apparently, Heupel is unable to take his foot off the gas, or go conservative, when is is completely warranted, and the only logical option.

Yes, we were screwed by the refs, especially in OT, but it never had to get to that point.  Tempt fate long enough, and fate wins.  Fate won.

That was my frustration with the game as well which I voiced on Volnation. Along with how pathetic our defense was today.

Nichols: Officiating Decided Music City Bowl Outcome, But Vols Will Still Decide Their Own Future Under Heupel

And that’s a very good thing from this vantage point.

https://www.si.com/college/tennessee/football/nichols-officiating-decided-music-city-bowl-outcome-but-vols-will-still-decide-their-own-future-under-heupel

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Let me begin by saying I was at the 2010 Music City Bowl against North Carolina.

What I and so many others witnessed in Purdue’s 48-45 Thursday night win was worse than that — by a lot.

To be quite frank, the majority of the words I’d use to describe what unfolded in the final moments can be seen in Josh Heupel’s viral response after officials relayed their decision regarding the forward progress call that will live in infamy.

In other (read: Heupel’s) words? “You’ve got to be f***ing kidding me.

Because Jaylen Wright scored a touchdown.

Point blank. Period. The end.

You’ve all seen the tweets by now. Social media has exploded in the hours since the call was made, and almost every take has, in essence, the same answer: “Tennessee was robbed and that was a touchdown.”

Never accept another Music City Bowl bid ever again.

Because two of the last three to involve the Vols have been botched beyond comprehension.

Can't argue with any of that.
But buddy, if Hooker doesn't overthrow a WIPE OPEN Jones by 5-10 yards...
(Ugh)
We're hoisting a victory toast.
Players got to make plays...

Also -- our RB plunges three yards deep in the end zone -- no  controversy.
BUT:
We had 25 tranfers -- some starting at Bama; playing at OU...  A new coach.  A radically new system.
Yet -- we lost three games that you can make a STRONG case were due to shitty officiating.
To two top-15 teams.  And a 9-win team.  None of which had the same sort of issues we had.

And we're an RCH from being 10-3.
Let's see what ol' pedal-to-the-metal can do next year...  ( ^ ;

Watching the last few minutes of that game unfold was like watching a slow moving car wreck...You knew it was going to end badly for us.

The picture of Tillman's jersey being pulled like a chord on a bus to stop is gut wrenching; no PI call....

We stopped their receivers forward progress, but he gets loose and scores, no problem, but our guy scores, big problem...

It just sucked big time...
