Who looked better, worse, and about as expected?

Looked about as expected (to me):

Tenn
USCe
UK
Auburn
Bama
Ole Miss
Mizzou

Who looked better?

Miss State
Florida
Arky (maybe)
Vandy

Who looked worse?

UGA
A&M
LSU

At least UGA won, but .... they have QB issues that look pretty obvious.

Miss St looked much better if I can say I told you so they are the team to watch. To bad Fulmer stabbed the previous AD in the back to get him fired or Mike Leach would be in Knoxville instead that BAMA alum Mr. Potato Head.

Georgia looked lost until they changed quarterbacks still aren't as good as predicted.

Tennessee with JG still looks the same. Inconsistent QB play he couldn't hit the side of a barn standing inside it.  He still misses wide open receivers and over throws the same as he always has.  If they don't change quarterbacks I predict 5-5 at best.  Mr. Potato Head can't see what everyone else can at the QB position.

Florida is as predicted with an experienced QB and a coach who knows how to win.

What little I watched of Texas AM they're still questionable and has the same problem Tennessee has inconsistency at QB and a coach who can't see it either. Jimbo is starting to look more like Dumbo. He certainly isn't worth the millions A&M paid him.

I have to give you credit about Mississippi State. I thought Moorhead's recruiting was so bad that it would take several years to build a team. Maybe the Pirate can do it immediately. We'll see.

Leach recruited well with two four star receivers and got a transfer QB with game experience.

Biggest thing that helped their receivers are now catching the ball instead dropping so many.

Their defense look pretty solid too, most of the time.

I guess we think alike.  I have always said the Air Raid would work in the SEC when many people said coaches who utilize that offense don't recruit defensive stars.  Well, any coach who comes to the SEC knows that he has to have a defense.  I'm not surprised by Mike Leach and wanted him at UT as well.  They botched that entire hiring.  I'm not down on Pruitt though, but he still sticks with a QB most of us knew would be inconsistent as a fifth year Senior and Guarantano was.  Who has confidence in a QB that throws high most of the time?  I get it though, too bad there aren't any tune-up games to get Harrison Bailey ready and then he got few reps when he was quarantined.  I was surprised to see who UGA started at QB.  I don't follow them so no big surprise.  He got the win, but UF looks like the power in the East.  Trask is legit and they have the necessary players around him.

There was no surprise about who started at QB for UGA, Matthis had done well in practice and played mostly with the ones.  Daniels was not yet cleared after his knee surgery.  Their offense largely made mistake after mistake in the first half to end drives.  It wasn't all on Matthis by any means.

I didn't even know about Daniels' knee surgery and didn't know how well Matthis was performing or not.

Daniels started his freshman year at USC and did reasonably well.  HIs second year he had an ACL injury (one year ago) and his understudy did very well, so he transferred.  He has just been cleared to play.  He is viewed as being very talented, I have not seen him of course.  He has practiced a lot already as the QBs are no contact in practice.

He has one year of experience and was a 5 star out of HS.  He's 6'2".  Should be interesting who gets the call.

I presume they spent time preparing to play a game.  Vandy isn't Georgia State or that ilk.  A good team should be able to prepare and beat Vandy even if they didn't take them that seriously.  Nearly everyone does.

Preparing for Bama ahead of time won't matter anyway, I suspect.

The Vols are a juggernaut!  They've won 7 straight!

For week 2:

Teams that looked better than expected:

UGA
Arkansas
....
Tennessee (no shock that they won, but they did so in fine style)

Teams that looked worse than expected:

Auburn  (Rumblings on the Plains?)
Miss State  (Air What?)
Kentucky (losing at home on a missed PAT to a mediocre Ole Miss is not what most thought UK would be this season)

Florida, Alabama and LSU combined to give up 134 points and 1,776 total yards Saturday. The Tide surrendered the most of any of them -- 48 points and 647 yards -- but was the only one of the trio to win.

Teams that looked better than expected:

Arkansas, in a tough loss, they look competitive now, not a joke at all.

UK - they shut down Miss State, I did not see the game.

UGA - in the second half only

Teams that looked worse than expected:

Florida - D?

Alabama - D?

MSU - O?

UGA - first half

LSU - no words

And the meh teams, all the rest.  They all did "OK" give or take I think, maybe not Vandy, but they are Vandy shorthanded.
