It's mishandling of NIL by my wild ass guess.
Most here, I'm guessing, have been a part of a team that wasn't compensated for their effort. The pros have their own problems, but it's outwardly about $$ with them. College athletes, especially now where NIL players are highly compensated for endorsement overlap those who aren't and may be struggling financially as they "attempt" to make the pros, are more emotionally attached and likely to spaz when their efforts and contributions are the same as another who are being or have been highly compensated for the same.
It's a bad formula if not handled carefully.
aTm kinda set themselves up for this as between them, UT, and USCw were the most prominent pursuers of those deals. Again, and not trying to redirect to UT, but they are the best handlers of this new age so far... others are learning from them... its not just the securing of the talent, it's how that's folded into the locker room where a coach has to demand a players effort who isn't making a penny and then a player who is literally rich. That horse and cart, so to speak, had to arrive together... securing the talent and not knowing how to manage it once it arrives is setting up for failure. My guess is somebody could ask jimbo offline and see how valid this is.
