Week 10
« on: November 01, 2022, 07:58:56 AM »
Eventful weekend apparently:

UK at Mizzou - I can see a hangover loss here, Mizzou isn't awful, UK isn't great, I'm going with the homers, 20-16, UK's season sort of evaporates.

UF at A&M - Wow, two programs headed in a bad direction, though the gators at least are trying to build, I'll go with A&M close, 30-27.

Tenn @ UGA - UGA an 8.5 point favorite, but the Vols seem able to score in bunchesm this probably hinges on TO margin, I'm leaning to the Vols on the road, 38-34.

Liberty @ Arky - When you schedule a pastry, find one that isn't ranked.  Liberty 27  Arky 24

Bama at LSU - Key game of course, I think Bama has the horses if they don't have dumb plays, 34-24.

Auburn @ Miss State - Weird game, I'm going with Auburn for some reason 27-23.

USCe @ Vandy - Vandy is just bad, USCe is so so, USCe wins 34-17.

I thought UK might frustrate the Vols more and offer more resistance.  They did that for about a quarter, and then the flood gates opened.  Probably still pick them against Mizzou.

Objectively I favor Florida against A&M, but it's too weird to think of A&M dropping 5 straight.  Can't get my brain around it.

UT/UGA.....I have no idea.  Nothing would surprise me.  Close nail-biter, or one team opens up a can on the other....all seems within the realm of likelihood.

Hard to imagine the Pigs losing a game like this at home, but I don't know anything about Liberty.

Bama @ LSU--"The Tide don't lose in Baton Rouge."  Not since 2010, anyway.

Can't believe AU fired a coach halfway through year 2.  This is a really different world than even 10 years ago.

USC/Vandy......meh.

Two things of note, perhaps:

Tennessee runs the ball really well.

Georgia can pass the ball pretty well also.

Hyatt has more TD receptions alone than all of UGA.

A perception is that the Dawgs mostly run the ball and rely on defense.  An odd stat is that UGA has more pass attempts than Tennessee, 300 to 251.  I bet few would expect that.  The Vols have 26 passing TD to half that number for the Dawgs, which could be expected.

Two things tough to defend against UT is their balance on offense as well as the more obvious pace.

Two things tougher to defend against UGA is their tight ends and Bennett's ability to run (which Hooker has as well, probably better).

I think a lot of points get scored.  I bet the winner has the better TO margin.

We haven't seen bamajoe or Ala-numbersguy since the Tennessee loss.  I'm just saying.

I was watching something else on youtube and the UGA-Tenn game followed as I was up and about and I watched into the 3rd.  The Vols were clearly in that game, and then trailed, and had a 4th down on about the UGA 11 and it failed.  They moved the ball pretty well overall on what was a top flight defense.  They have a better offense this year and UGA has a weakened defense.

They are going to score a lot, a question is whether they score so much early it puts the Dawgs off their offensive plan needing to catch up.  They might.

I'm expecting what we saw in the bama game for UT/UGA...

UT will spread it out early, and UGA will romp back... like Mike, though, I also expect any kind of variation under the sun here... UGA could blow UT out... UT could blow UGA out.. it could be a nail biter... and it all comes down to mistakes.

I watched UT/UK again last night.  UT was sloppy at least 1/2 the time.  UGA will make them pay for that.  When they weren't sloppy UK didn't have an answer- UGA will at least 75% of the time... if this game was scheduled as old tradition- first or second week of October, UT would win as they'd sneak up on them... after the bama game there will be no sneaking up in anyone.

You don't see me much win or lose. Only 588 posts and one of the first to post on this board. I don't care for trash talk either way. Don't dish it out and don't care to listen to it.

If this goes back to the beginning, mine was the second post on the board.

It's overcast here all day, and I presume in Athens as well.  No rain likely.

I saw somewhere this is the highest ranked pairing every played in Sanford Stadium.  In 1942, # 5 UGA played #2 Ga Tech (and won handily 34-0).  They played #3 Alabama earlier at Grant Field for some reason in Atlanta (and won).

When it rains it pours. Apparently A&M has several players out with the flu. I know my wife had it earlier this week and it put her out of commission for several days.

I expect Florida to win this one handily. Like 35-10. Just too much wrong with this team all season.

I expect UGa to win easily. May not happen right away but by the 4th quarter they should be in control. UTenn is good, but UGa is elite.
