Skip Bertman, LSU's baseball coach from 1984 - 2001 and AD from 2001 - 2008, passed away this morning at the age of 88.  He turned LSU baseball into the powerhouse we know today and became one of the most influential figures in LSU sports.  Between LSU and Miami (FL) he had a HC record of 870-330-3 for a 72.32% win percentage, and went 89 - 29 in tournaments.  He was a great ambassador for LSU sports and the university in general.  As an AD, his legacy is more complicated, imo, but one thing I'd never deny is he created a lot of goodwill for LSU and he excited the donors and the base.  Whatever people think about his hires, he did the PR and fund-raising job well.  Also, just seemed like a nice guy.

Texas used to play nothing but night home games until October.  Then television in the late 90s changed that.

I guess I don't really see the issue?  Is it because you believe they have some unfair advantage playing at night?  Or because you think they're stealing night game television slots from other teams? I don't see it as any big deal but maybe there's something I'm missing?

Like I said, Texas used to play all of its pre-October home games at night.  It was common and normal back then for many schools to do that.  The television scheduling slots changed all that starting in the mid/late 90s.

LSU sure does play a lot of night games.

Don't get me started on LSU's night games and the SEC's utter lack of help during a prolonged stretch this doesn't even begin to cover.  One of many things the SEC chose not to help LSU with.  What we have, we have because we negotiated with the networks.  The conference bends over backwards to protect many traditions....ours, not so much.   

One of the dumbest, most ass-backwards things I've ever read:  "It’s outrageous that they get these protections and privileges that no one else in the country, let alone the conference gets."

That's not only false, it's 180 degrees, diametrically-opposed-to-the-truth, false.  Anybody can be wrong.  If you're perfectly wrong, you're probably a schill.
