A noon kick for the B1G game of the day. Really looking forward to Michigan and Wisconsin. But Fox picking up games creates some odd schedules. This game should be at 3:30. The warmup games should be at noon. TV rights...
Need to hit the store soon to pick up some food, but what? Made chili last week. Wife can't stand bean soup. Did a pot roast earlier. Need something low and slow that will fill up the house with some good smells.
-
Looking way ahead to tonight's SC UCLA crosstown rivalry and joking whether the bigger viewing interest will take place across the country in NYC due to both the Giants & Jets talking about drafting franchise QBs.
Heading out in an hour to my Michigan fan relatives to set up and watch the big showdown Vs Wisconsin.
-
Max- I think you should get a nice rib roast and do a prime rib. Mix up some herbs, horseradish and salt and crust that baby up. I just read a recipe yesterday from Tyler Florence on that and it sounded great.
Anyway, I'm doing French onion soup, crab legs, corn and homemade fries for tonight. Heading out to Costco as soon as they open.
Mrs. 847 had a spinal fusion Wednesday, otherwise we'd be in Madison. Not liking the weather too much and not glad she needed a fusion, but I'd rather be home today than up there in this crap.
-
Need to get a nap in here before kids get back from tennis. Took forever to get through Chicago last evening, rain made it a mess and a late night. Pushing 60 degrees here today in Indy. More rain though.
-
Man I do like some prime rib, though that's a little luxurious a few days before Thanksgiving. I need to go buy a turkey this morning too. I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year. Never done it by myself before, and trying to gameplan.
- Turkey in the oven
- Mashed potatoes on the stovetop
-Mac and cheese on the stovetop
- Greens on the stovetop
- Cranberry sauce make ahead
- Grave on the stovetop
- Stuffing in the crockpot
The whole getting everything ready at once is going to be a challenge.

I've always had a lot of respect for people who can cook big meals with several dishes, all with varying cook times, and have it all hot and ready at the same time. You don't appreciate that kind of stuff growing up. As an adult you do though.
-
how about some country style pork ribs or some beef short ribs in the oven?
Cover them with some homemade kraut the last 20 minutes or so
mm
I made a pot of oyster stew last night - having leftovers for lunch
the oysters were wonderful but the grilled cheese sammich was almost better
-
Mrs. 847 had a spinal fusion Wednesday, otherwise we'd be in Madison.
tell the Mrs. I hope she feels much better soon and has many years of relief from the fusion
I know the pain
-
Hitting near 60 today, but the rain is relentless. Might as well have a big game at noon today, I'm not doing anything.
-
I'm mowing the lawn/leaves this morning then winterizing the mower. Starting the snowblower just to be sure.
40 degrees and windy out of the northwest
storing the golf cart trailer in the back yard

Look up "Good Eats Roast Turkey" or just click on the link below. Once I found that, there is no other way. It's wonderful.

It's impossible to screw it up.
I like FF's idea of the country ribs. Start 'em on the grill to sear then put them in a carnitas sauce in the crock or oven. You can get carnitas sauce from Rick Bayless to make it more easy, if his stuff is available in your store. If not, it's pretty easy to put one together.

She used the same lady as I did for the surgery so she will be fine. I'll pass along the well-wishes. Thanks pal.

I’m not very optimistic about Michigan’s chances today. Badgers are a very good football team. I think Peters shows his youth today and makes a few mistakes. Would like to escape with everyone healthy.
What jerk schedule maker gave Michigan Wisconsin and Ohio State I’m back-to-back weeks?
-
What jerk schedule maker gave Michigan Wisconsin and Ohio State I’m back-to-back weeks?
Preaching to the choir here. Complete horseshit. Wisconsin game should've been two weeks ago. These guys have to go on the road and get into a fist fight with an extremely physical Wisconsin team and then turn around next week and play their biggest game of the year against their arch rival. That's a TOUGH back to back stretch.
-
On Wisconsin!
-
T storm warnings here. I can't imagine Rutgers vs IU is well attended today
-
Peters can't hit the deep ball. Maybe it will come in time, he's only a frost who has barely played but it's absolutely frustrating as hell.
-
Michigan looking for McKeon early
-
BTW Taylor is a hell of load
-
Not going to be able to watch a lot of games today until the afternoon/evening. Errands and then celebrating my girlfriend's dad's birthday. We're taking him to some legendary bar in Long Beach called Joe Jost's (http://joejosts.com/89-front/112-joe-jost-s-official-site). We're having them over for dinner, so maybe I'll be able to catch the USC/UCLA game this evening.
As for dinner, I'm not sure if any of you have ever made ribeye cap (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj_1uzM0MjXAhUGxGMKHc-lBlQQFggoMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.seriouseats.com%2F2012%2F05%2Fmeet-the-ribeye-cap-the-tastiest-cut-on-the-cow.html&usg=AOvVaw1Seq0TOZzHmFWhWLmk71By) steaks. You can pick them up at Costco, and it's the portion of the ribeye on the very outside. They roll it into a round, and it's great on the grill. Going to do that with roasted brussels sprouts with bacon, roasted beets, garlic bread and then a cake.
And beer. Definitely beer :singing:
-
I feel like this game is as close to the 70's OSU-Michigan games as we are likely to see
-
nice run by Higdon there
-
Michigan wastes two timeouts there, giving over intangible crowd advantage.
-
M Tackle or an RB fooked up there,Dooley wasn't touched
-
Michigan's pass protection scheme basically sucks. I don't know if it's coaching or personnel- but I've never seen a team allow so many free hitters on the QB. TE's, RB's, OL's - all consistently miss assignments- just let defenders run completely free to kill shot the QB.
-
Attacking Michigan with dinks and dunks is fool's gold. You have to attack down the field.
-
MN and NU scoreless after 1 quarter
-
Now that was a strike by Hornibrook
-
M Tackle or an RB fooked up there,Dooley wasn't touched
Happens multiple times a game- EVERY game. It's maddening.
-
Great pitch & catch there by W
-

Seems to me like Hornibrook is afraid to turn it over. Can't blame him. All he's got to do is take care of the ball and Wisconsin wins this game.
-
Gotta connect there
-
Peters needs to settle in and hit a deep ball. The OL/RBs/TEs need to take their heads out of their asses and protect their QB.

'Cats strike first with a rushing TD

Ugh. WVU QB out with a grotesque looking injury to a finger on his throwing hand.
-
Well that's one way to score a touchdown

Atrocious special teams play right there.
Game ova.

Anyone else notice the large expanse of empty seats in the Badger student section? Shame they couldn't get up for a premier game like this.
-
Peters threw that with too much touch and was late. Would've been a huge play if he threw it harder on a line and literally a fraction of a second earlier. That little hesitation and that air he put on the ball allowed Wisc CB to catch up and break up the ball.
-
Was that offense I saw?
-

They'll be there they're always late for what ever reason

Well that's some rotten luck for Michigan

2 plays later, 'Cat rushing TD
2-point conversion attempt is no good
MN 0
NU 19

That was a rough turn of events for Ttun.
Looked like the guys first foot to touch was the one that was in bounds, and then the Frosh QB's donkey ears pop up on the next play from scrimmage.

Something is up with Peters left hand. It's wrapped and he put a glove on. I think he was carrying that with his left and just kinda dropped it.

Orlando sentinel says deal for Frost to N close.

That ball touched the ground and moved around. I think that's an INC. NFL that's probably incomplete, doubt they turn it over here.

'Cat TD
2-point conversion attempt again no good

Nah. That was clearly an INC- ball touched ground and bobbled around- that WR didnt maintain poessesion through the catch. Ball can hit the ground, it can't move around like that.
And the DPJ no turnaround was the right no call. It was just too close to call.

Longhorns almost looking like a football team today. I'm not holding my breath that it will last.
-
Chris Evans was late with that cut off-tackle. Then he goes down with an arm tackle. His vision is inconsistent and he goes down on contact way too easy. He could be so special if he builds up his lower and upper body. He's just too small.
-
Peters threw a gorgeous deep ball to DPJ. If he can do that consistently- he will be an pretty good QB.
-
Wolverines with a great drive
-
Wolverines with a great drive
That's a monster turnaround by Michigan to go +80 yards for a tying TD on the heels of Wisconsin driving deep for an otherwise two possession lead.
-
Wolverines with a great drive
That drive was all Peters. That deep ball was absolutely perfect and that check down to Evans on 3rd and 8 was like his 4th read. Then he put that ball right on the money down to the seam to McKeon to set up the 1st and goal.
Um...how was he not the back-up to start the season? He could've gotten so much more 1st team reps in practice and live action in games. Harbaugh screwed the pooch there I think.

All in the second quarter?

Why is Alabama playing Mercer this late in the season and why is Auburn playing Louisiana Monroe? Absolutely pathetic.
-
I didn't see that ball move even a little bit
It didn't, but I'm not surprised that they reversed it anyway. I knew it was gonna be tough sledding on that front when roughing the punter was not flagged.
-

They all do it in that league. Someday it will come back to bite them.

It's the annual SEC FCS weekend. Been going on for years and years.

Yep, that was huge. UW was moving.
-

I keep on thinking that, and it never does.
-
Indiana with a solid playcall. Throw a deep ball interception on 3rd down, then force a fumble and recover it on first down for Rutgers.
-
It didn't, but I'm not surprised that they reversed it anyway. I knew it was gonna be tough sledding on that front when roughing the punter was not flagged.
That ball absolutely moved. They showed it on back angle.
The call you're referring to would've been running into, not roughing, and as Klatt pointed out it was the correct no call. Punter tried faking like the little pussy 99% of punters are- but thankfully the refs didn't buy what he was selling.
-
All in the second quarter?
Yep. Completely outta nowhere!
-
Pass protection continues to suck.
Comedy of errors. Kugler peels off Edwards and engages a guy that Higdon was taking out low- causing the chop block penalty. Higdon had him- no reason for him to do that. Ruiz has no idea what's going on let's Edwards blow right past him and sack Peters.
For all that hype of him as a coach- Drevno can't get these guys to work together in unison.

Well, I thought the throw by Sam Ehlinger against Ok St was the dumbest I had seen all year. He just topped himself with a pick 6 to get WVU back in it.

Haven't seen a Badger OL getting blown off the blocks like this in a while, 3 & 4 defenders getting through.
-
Peters doing a good job
-
Peters doing a good job
He seems like a pretty cerebral QB. He just seems to have a feel for the position that Speight and O'Korn both seem to really lack- those two- just a lot of dumb football.

He's certainly been up to the moment - which is always a question for a freshman QB going on the road against a strong defense
-
Don't think wiscy will score offensive points
-
Tyree Kinnel can't cover in man.
That ball was thrown out of bounds tho...

UW may want to cut the play action out considering they can't run at all. It's not fooling anyone, and it's just giving UM defenders extra time

Coverage broke down on two 3rd and longs. Hornibrook made money throws. Kid has some brass balls. That was a huge response after he threw a pick.
-
Should've been a penalty on that Wisconsin player. Drove him into the ground well after the ball was released.
Collarbone is broken. Calling it now. He's done for the year.

One of those textbook dirty but not late hits, with intent to injure. Looked a lot like Woodley on Stanton in 04

NFL that's a penalty. They need to do more to protect the QB in the college game.
-
If I'm Gary or Hurst I'm out for blood after that cheap shot on Peters.
-
Really sucks losing your quarterbacks, right? Hope the kid's okay.
I saw on the first page someone complaining about schedules.
LOL! Too funny.
-
NFL that's a penalty. They need to do more to protect the QB in the college game.
The NFL does too much. The rule is fine, they just need to call it. In fairness, that's a tough one to call live because it wasn't late.
-
That's about as well blocked an end around as you'll ever see.
-
Wiscy suddenly making plays everywhere
-
Instead of being out for revenge the defense looks like they've had the life sucked out of them.
O'Korn about to come in and suck it up.
Game over. Season over.
Congrats Wisconsin.

Yeah, tough break.
It's all up to the Freak on a Leash.

I think I could've gotten a TD there. That was an incredibly well blocked play.

LOL! Too funny.
Any reasonable fan wouldn’t want to face the two best teams in the conference in back to back weeks.
-
If I'm Gary or Hurst I'm out for blood after that cheap shot on Peters.
Definitely intentionally drove him down. Should be a penalty. Did find it funny that a post after advocating for QB protection you're out for blood. Lol.
-
High volatility in this Miami game.
-
I seriously didn't think wiscy was going to move on O. This game shifted incredibly fast.

Congrats Wisconsin.
As well as the D has played they've blown third and long all day. Hornibrook's passer rating on 3rd & +5 must be through the roof. And on that end-around the Wolverines played off like they were containing a kickoff. Long was in position kill that play at the edge and froze.
-
Any reasonable fan wouldn’t want to face the two best teams in the conference in back to back weeks.
Have you seen Maryland's schedule this year?
Toughest in the nation.
-
330 window pretty sorry. Unless you want to watch KU suffer
-
What does O'Korn's brain see when he's out there? Like wtf? DPJ wasn't open and he was double covered and he way over threw it on 1st down. 2nd down he was way late throwing that slant and Edwards broke it up. He's late on reads and the reads he does make are bad.
-
Pass protection is horrible. Absolutely effing horrible. They allow free hitters more than any other OL I've ever seen. Blockers aren't getting physically beat- they aren't even picking up the fricken rusher.
-
Definitely intentionally drove him down. Should be a penalty. Did find it funny that a post after advocating for QB protection you're out for blood. Lol.
I'm just saying lol. You hit me I'm gonna hit you back twice as hard. They want to do that to their QB- do it back to theirs. You know they aren't gonna call it in college- so I'd just do it back.
-

How was that pass interference ?
-
That's some speed for a big guy

Recruiting cracks me up - Taylor looks like Beanie Wells
-
How was that pass interference ?
You're the second penalized team in the B1G, and you're not playing Maryland, so things are back to normal now.
-
How was that pass interference ?
Live thought it was, on replay definitely not
-
Michigan mentally quitting down the stretch. Guess where this is the "but young team" excuse earns its usefulness.

Wiscy grinding Michigan into a fine paste

Pitt had 1st and goal at the 1 with 1:04 left, down 6 against VT, and got stuffed four straight times.

-
Fun finish in Blacksburg. Pitt converts a late 4th & 4, with the TE breaking a tackle and taking a short pass for about 60 yds down to the Virginia Tech 1 with under a minute left. But then Narduzzi completely mismanages both the clock and play calls and Tech is able to get an inept Pitt offense to trip over itself.

Eh, I like the trophy.

It used to be a living tortoise.
-
Is it just me or is there some sort of sound issue with the game?
-
One of those textbook dirty but not late hits, with intent to injure. Looked a lot like Woodley on Stanton in 04
I don't think there was intent to injure. That's just not the Wisconsin way.
I saw that Peters was up off the ground trying to throw the ball down the field when Van Ginkle caught him at the worst possible time as his feet were basically off the ground. Momentum carried the play.
Regardless, I'm surprised there was no call. It will be interesting to read about it tomorrow and to hear what the kids have to say about it.
-
Eh, I like the trophy.

-
OSU is on pace to break 100
-
A lot of these Illini plays look like they are about to go for 6 or 7 yards, but wind up getting blown up in the backfield.
Jimmys and Joes, not Xs and Os.
-
I don't even know what a competent MSU run game looks like. Minnesota was the last time we saw it.
-
Is it just me or is there some sort of sound issue with the game?
I haven't noticed yet but I've been flipping around a bit. Are you talking about M/MSU or OSU/IL?

Both have, but FOX seems to have fixed theirs

Would have been called back for holding.

Nice push off. That doesn't get a call, but not touching a guy and putting your hand up in the air does.
-
So you run the ball all over Maryland, and come back with three straight passes? They deserved that three and out.
-
Nice push off. That doesn't get a call, but not touching a guy and putting your hand up in the air does.
We get it. Every play, every week, every year, Maryland is screwed. Not much need to repeat it. It's been noted for the record over and over and over and over and over...
-

UMD returning the favor by going right to the pass with great backs but a 4th string QB
-
Good Lord Marylands QB is bad. These skill position players are going to cause a lot of problems next year with a real QB.

I'm not that "guy", but when you see it over and over and over again, you start to believe it.

LOL

All 3 announcers liked the call, but IMO that taunting call on Maryland was really weak
-
If making a "safe" signal is a 15-yard penalty then so should be a first down signal.
That announcer's an idiot. Never heard the penalty in the endzone and raved on about that, and now is acting like no one taunts ever and always gets penalized.
No, no they don't.
-
All 3 announcers liked the call, but IMO that taunting call on Maryland was really weak
Yeah, that was bulljive.
-
I have to say, even though he was " the enemy" I loved Brian Griese as a player. And I love him as a color analyst. Smart, balanced, informed - interesting things to add.

No, no they don't.
My only thought is that an out of position ref thought he did throat slash? But taunting isn't something where an advantage is gained, so you better be 100% sure. If not, unbelievably weak.

Don't get why ESPN has marginalized him so much. I really enjoy him

I like how Holly Sonders was a decent MSU golfer, got a boob job, changed her name, banged a PGA analyst, and now she has a career.
-
Clearly a fumble, but the Maryland player was also clearly down. MSUs third fumble inside the 1 this year.

Their lack of understanding in general (this year) has been obvious. Thanks, Big Jim.

Looks like Iowa is suffering from The Wisconsin Effect.

I'm hoping that your theory rings true next week.

Purdue leads Iowa (!) 21-9 in the 3rd.

Didn't grab him, didn't push him, didn't hold his arms, just put his hand in the air, and a PI.
This F'ing B1G officiating is BS.
Same thing happened earlier in this game in the endzone, and last week against Michigan.
-
"Safe" sign, flag #4.

I don't care what the situation is, any pass call at this point is a bad call. Whole passing game looks broken right now, and they can't even slow down the run.

Like when a player gets tackled after getting a first down, gets up and looks at the tackler, and makes the first down signal, right? Right?
It's a safe signal, not a throat slash.
-
Oklahoma State getting housed at home by KSU?
-
I don't even remember this penalty being bitched about
-
I don't even remember this penalty being bitched about
It's the accumulation of many many ticky-tack and stupid penalties that the refs call every single week and get wrong.
-
BYU is gonna lose to UMass.
UMass has been competetive all season. Good for them.
KSU's 3rd string QB? Wingback? TE? LB? is just torching OK State.
-
Baker Mayfield, still an ass
-
What'd he do?Besides being Baker
-
What'd he do?Besides being Baker
Spent a solid 2 minutes grabbing his junk and yelling f*** you to random KANSAS players from the sideline.
-
Sounds like unsportsman like conduct.15 yds & a warning
-
There you have it.
Another wonderful example.
-
I think Iowa is just not very good, and had one fluky result.
That's the convenient argument. I think they are a decent team. Not great. Not bad. Just decent. They have some good wins.
-
What'd he do?Besides being Baker
Asshat. NFL GM's are watching. Trust that.
-
I have clips of all of them. But this one pushed DJ over the top.

Stop cheating. Problem solved.
Maryland players get mixed signals with Durkin smiling all the time.
-
I'm hoping that your theory rings true next week.
Could be. I think both teams are gonna be sore next week. I worry about UW against Minnie. Clearly Minnie mailed it in today in Evanston, probably looking ahead to f'ing up the season for Big Red.
That.. or they quit on their obnoxious excuse of a self promoting head coach?
#SinktheBoat.
-

WTF
Stop cheating?
He smirks, because he knows they're screwing him.
-
Maybe when the refs have established they'll call ticky tack shit, don't commit ticky tack shit Reid?
-
Sounds like the Illini are down to walk ons, after their QB goes down.
-
LOL
-
And the walk on QB runs in for a TD on his first play from scrimmage.
-
Iowa you're killing me
-
Why didn't Iowa just kick the PAT??? ~???
Now Hawkeyes are officially screwed
-
Haskins looking a little more nimble than he gets credit for
-
Urban needs to address some thug cheap shots. The wack on the Illini QB going oob should be a one game suspension - seriously
-
Purdue playing for a bowl game next week! It's been a while.
-
People's elbow is clean.
-
Hopefully that means our token Madre London drive is behind us
-
I'm hoping that your theory rings true next week.
This is Iowa this year, I don't care who they played last week. The tOSU game will forever confound us.
-
Purdue playing for a bowl game next week! It's been a while.
Boiler UP.
Not sure WTF that means, but yeah. Boiler UP!

Me too.

You've pitched a shutout, so better go to the prevent and let them march down the field on back to back possessions

Congrats.
I guess.

It's funny you say that. I was thinking they might not even throw a flag since he barely nudged him and was blocked into him.
-

Banking on the Zebras to come through.
-
This shitty prevent worked so well up big against Minnesota, might as well try it again to just give away points.
-
That was lucky, Layne did nothing defensively, and Moore just dropped it.
-
These announcers are garbage. How is it 4 down territory? If Maryland gets nothing here, they are down 10, a FG makes it one score too. If they pick up yardage and make it 4th and 1 or 2, maybe.
-
Well, or that

Defensive?
ace?
-
Was that so hard? Literally every MSU drive only ended when they threw the ball or ran with London or Holmes. Scott up the middle Maryland had nothing for.
-
That and a BS PI call in the endzone to extend the drive at the 2, and the "running into the kicker" boost helped TREMENDOUSLY.
Oh well. 8:30 tip tonight.
-
Is it is it just me, or does Brady Hole look slimmer wearing a headset?

As do false start non calls leading to 10 yard runs out of the shadow of your own goalposts. You can focus on bad calls, of which both teams can always point to plenty, or you can focus on where your team needs improvement. Can't do much about QB injuries, but the run defense of Maryland is straight abysmal.

Run defense? Just the DL. The Gaddy Twins are redshirting, Jesse is injured, and there are a few other big boys redshirting. Some more coming in.
Durkin's first real recruiting class this year is sitting. Not one WR is over 6 feet either, but we have a few who are redshirting.
No matter who we get though, until I see the BS calls that are COMPLETE BS like the one I posted before, and not blatant drive continuing calls for the opposite team, I'm going to believe we're here only to pad the B1G traditional schools SOS ranking, with no chance of getting a win thanks to the zebras.
-
USC v UCLA should be played in sunshine.
-
Personally I never complain about the refs, due to that old adage about telling people your problems.
Most people don't care, and the ones that do are glad that you're having them.

Playing Maryland pads no SOS.
-
Man, UCLA totally deked by usc on punt return
-
USC somehow ran a trick play by predicting the UCLA punter would punt the ball in the wrong direction.
-
Have never seen a punt return where a the punter kicks it the opposite way of the coverage. That on top of the returning team have a player able to field on the opposite side to return it. SC takes advantage of UCLA botching punt coverage.
-
Playing Maryland pads no SOS.
Uh, better than E. Michigan a-hole.
-
More rotten weather in knoxville
-
We added Maryland so that we could start up a Lacrosse conference that none of us will ever win.

SMH
We have more B1G championships than just lacrosse.
-
Uh, better than E. Michigan a-hole.
The alternative was a different Big Ten game, not EMU.
The Big Ten added Maryland and Rutgers for new TV markets.
-
Maryland is typically a tougher out than Southern Michigan.
Not this year, though.
-
Enjoy the games guys.

USC v UCLA should be played in sunshine.
It was UM-OSU/USC-UCLA as the Saturday before Thanksgiving 1/4 double-header forever
-
Rosen with a pair of red zone turnovers, but Darnold cost USC 3 with a brain fart of his own, letting the half expire.
-
I've been bearish (all along) on both Rosen and Darnold (as elite QBs). Darnold must have grease on his hands, or they are tiny, the guy coughs it up all the time. Rosen, while, yes he can throw a deep ball, always seems too cute for his own good.
edit: never mind Rosen's own half hearted love of football. I can't see this guy committing to football as a career. Aloof may not be the right word, but the guys doesn't seem like he gives two shits for football. (not that there's anything wrong with that view, but not a guy i'd pay tens of millions of dollars to draft).

Yeah, aloof strikes me as Jay Cutler, and that doesn't seem like an apt comparison. But whatever his mentality is, isn't one you can get away with playing that position in the NFL.
-
Pretty crap day of football. The SEC does the SEC thing. Play 8 conference games and nobody else.
Playoffs.
Hype.
ESecPN CBSec blah blah blah.
Rammer Bammer. Beat Mercer!!
Blah.

Wake really trying to hand this to NCST, despite NCST fumbling at the Wake goal line a minute ago.

Enjoy the games guys.
There were like maybe 3 good ones today.

Darnold is a walking turnover chain. However he does make some great throws. I think he'd be good with a good coach who could coach out the dumb.
Always thought Rosen is decent.
They are both top 10 (probably top 5) picks for the simple fact that there is so much trash at QB in the league today and that they can't possibly be worse than say 12-15 of them.
-
slim pickings. Some good early ones, at least for awhile. I ran off with the kids in the afternoon, and really only caught KSU v oSu. This golden bell game has been fun to watch, despite the darkness. It was just a nasty day east of the Mississippi pretty much everywhere except So Fla.
-
There were like maybe 3 good ones today.
Evening has been a little better, but yeah the early ones? Among ranked teams, only Oklahoma State was upset, and only Notre Dame and Mississippi State won by single digits. Even 3 of the 4 other Big Ten games were duds.
-
Wake really trying to hand this to NCST, despite NCST fumbling at the Wake goal line a minute ago.
That was quietly a great game. Wofford is so underrated.
-
I'm trying to figure out what NC State did to be mildly well thought of? Beat an overrated Louisville team at home?
-

Didn't they beat FSU too? That got Bama a lot of miles.

They don't really make mistakes, even that fumble was more a great play by Wake. Plus I think they have a lot of upper classmen starters.
-
Didn't they beat FSU too? That got Bama a lot of miles.
To be mildly fair to Bama (and FSU), FSU went from a modest penthouse to outhouse when Francois went down.
-

Injuries. All teams have them.
-
No doubt about it. FSU has some downright abysmal QB play, that's on them.
I'll take War Eagle and the points this week, particularly if it opens at +4. Maybe I can finally hit a stupid upset pick.
-
Circus catch for UCLA to keep the drive going.
-
UDub BD blows up Utah ball carrier. Probably 90% clean, his crown could be down in the chest. I guess if the angle is raised a few degrees this is is clean? No target called on field, now reviewing. This is where (for the 101st time) this rule makes us all mad. Now he's called and ejected for it.
-
Injuries. All teams have them.
Right, but Bama got the FSU with Francois, and everyone else got the version without him.
-
Still got a game in Troy.
-
Wash pk making this a game....for utah.
-
:) Utah fake punt on 4th and 17, tie game, punter runs for it, gets it and spikes ball. Flagged. Utah keeps drive alive.

Not that I like watching boneheaded players, but I kind of wish I'd seen that one.

Florida only had 53 scholly players today (injuries + suspensions). Fun stuff.
No, FSU shouldn't have fallen apart with the loss of their QB, but they have. It's a real thing.
-
I tuned into the Wis/Mich game at 10-7. Boy, the Badgers played some lights-out football after that.
-
The Badgers are good.

Sounds like Florida needs better trainers and smarter players.

It's funny you say that. I was thinking they might not even throw a flag since he barely nudged him and was blocked into him.
I didn't see the nudge he looked to be flying in there a full 2 steps out of bounds. There was another play a DB I believe popped a receiver after the play - not a good look

Thoughts on yesterday's action:
-Badge, send the Mrs. our warmest regards from her friends at the IBN. Hope to see her up and going again soon.
-Lots of rotten weather in Big Ten country yesterday. Oddly enough, it was 34 and downright pleasant here in the Twin Cities yesterday.
-After seeing enough of that gong show in Evanston, I'm afraid to see what Wisconsin is going to do this week at the New Brickhouse. Oof. About the only hope is that the Gopher club from the Nebraska game shows up to play a lot of weasels who are looking ahead to the showdown with Ohio State with a trip to the tournament at stake. And I know full well that I'm going to subject myself to watching the whole damn fiasco even though there's no chance in hell of the Gophers pulling it off.
-When the officiating crew calls the same thing a foul three times in the first half, at some point one would hope a team would stop doing that thing. Sadly some need to learn this lesson, such as a BB game a few years ago in which I called 3 identical illegal screens in the first half, and then one bench was livid that I dared call the same illegal screen again in the deep stretch. Some people never learn.
-There is no officiating conspiracy against Maryland. Take the aluminum foil off your head. Instead, use it to make a pouch for potatoes/fresh veggies to roast on the grill. Mmmm.
-GFs folks are coming from Michigan this weekend, so I'm in charge of prepping and roasting a turkey Friday. However, since she grew up in an Italian family it will not be the usual sides. Plenty of dressing, but instead of the usual others, it's homemade ravioli and red sauce, au gratin potatoes with four cheeses that I can't pronounce, and crusty rolls from an ethnic bakery somewhere around Detroit.

Those sides sound tasty, enjoy your T-day weekend meal!
My brother's hosting Thanksgiving this year, he and my dad will deep-fry one turkey, and I'm going to BBQ another here at the house and take it over. As delicious as those will be, my mom's conrbread dressing is alaways the real star. And some homemade sweet tater pie, of course. Can't wait!

Being a dago, you caught my attention with the homemade ravioli. Are you making it?
And is it Meat or cheese? Nothing beats real home made ravioli. A lot of work but so worth it!

Thanks for the well-wishes GR.

That's the dumbest shit I've seen in a long time.
Do you want us to give back all the B1G titles since we've joined?
Think about that for a minute. If we're so bad, how do we come in and dominate so many sports in this conference?
Oh, you're just saying stupid shit to hit a nerve? Got it.
2nd full recruiting class, and top 25 so far at that in football. Can't wait.

Fear the tab, Turtles.
The University of Maryland's athletic department is in massive debt according to a report (http://www.president.umd.edu/B1G/Commission_on_UMD_Big_Ten_CIC_Integration_Final_report.pdf) from the university (via the Washington Post). (http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/maryland-athletics-continues-to-struggle-financially-despite-planned-move-to-big-ten/2013/08/13/1a7c5ecc-0419-11e3-88d6-d5795fab4637_story.html) How much debt? More than $21 million in operating costs over the previous academic year, and this comes in advance of Maryland's big move to the Big Ten, which will be official on July 1, 2014.
At the very least, Maryland's athletic department is anticipating to work in debt for the next four academic years. The Big Ten move will bring along inclusion to a lucrative television contract (http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/dennis-dodd/21058776/big-10-expansion-could-mean-120-million-in-next-decade) that the university hopes will help it crawl out of the red.

Dude, bigger letters don't help you.
I'm talking about officiating fraud, and you're talking about B1G financials for Maryland.
2 different streets.
It's funny though how many here can believe HRC physically killed people, but doesn't believe that officiating can be crooked.
Amazing.

Since our season has been officially over since NW, and PSU will try to break scoring records this week, I'll not mention it, but know that all of Terp Nation believes it's rigged until we see otherwise.
I posted several videos of Durkin's reactions to the officiating in the Maryland section.
-
I have a hard time taking Durkin's reactions serious.
He's a mini-Harbaugh.
Both send far too many notes to the home office.
M gets the benefit because they are.. Michigan. Big Jim's co-favorite with OSU. We all know this. Been going on for almost 30 years now.

Time will tell what Durkin will or won't do, but when you submit calls to the office, and they say, "yep, we f'd up", how can you blame him for being pissed?
These calls are insane.
