Title: How do you expect your team to fare in 2024?

The Dawgs will start ranked #1 or #2, but I see two losses regular season pretty easily, so 10-2.  I don't know the SEC tie breakers at all, haven't looked for them.

I'm thinking 9-3 or 10-2.  Games against Michigan, Georgia, OU will be quite tough. Rivalry games both AT Arkansas and AT Texas A&M are not going to be a cakewalk either.

Should be a really fun season in the SEC.

I don't see any largely probable losses beyond UGA/A&M/UM/OU.  So split those, and 10-2.  There is Vandy still.

Apparent media blackout on the hill, very little news at all, at least there is no bad news :) No AlaDAMNbama on the schedule! I like this new rotation already! 3 gimmes, then LSU, Ole Miss, Tenn and Texass at home.


Does Bobby Petrino still have "it"? Will Taylen Green be as effective as projected? Will the Oline step up? RBs will be good as will the Defense. Getting to 6 and 6 will require some serious good luck plus everything clicking just right. If the Hogs get to a bowl, that will extend Pittman's tenure for one more year.

Florida could start 5-1 and still not make a bowl.  The schedule is stupid.

That's 7-5 and probably optimistic.  Losses against any of Arkansas, South Carolina and Auburn are also possible.  I don't think we lose all of them and conversely could win any of ND, Florida and Texas.  But realistically somewhere between 6-6 and 8-4... I think.

Our WR corps is shallow, no homerun threat at RB and our Oline sucks.  Weigman has 1st round talent, but we don't have much around him.  Makes for a mediocre year.

Texas is highly ranked in every preseason poll I've seen so folks must think they will be pretty solid.

The first thing I look at is "Do they have a solid returning QB?" for any team.

Good returning QB, good o-line.  That's a huge part of the puzzle.

Horns lost a lot to the draft-- 11 players-- but several of them were 3*s that got coached up by the current staff.  That's a new development in Austin, and a welcome one.

Our O-line is the big question mark.

9-3 seems reasonable. 10-2 might be possible. So might 6-6.

The most interesting team, perhaps, is Tennessee.  They come off a good year with a new QB who played well in the bowl game.  They get slotted 7th in conference behind some admittedly good looking teams.  

They have NC State and three pastries OOC.  They play Alabama as usual and UGA and OU on the road.  I could see them finishing 10-2.

our sched is as easy as an sec sched can be.

in order of likelihood

9-3
10-2
8-4
11-1
7-5

making the po hinges on the offense taking a step forward which is possible. although we did well in the portal we lost a lot of nfl talent on defense so i expect it to take a step back (it will still be pretty good). lsu hired our dc whom i liked a lot...his blitz packages were good & the unit played well overall. eli seems to have a knack for finding good coord's so i'll trust the new dc until proven otherwise.

Does Bobby Petrino still have "it"? Will Taylen Green be as effective as projected? Will the Oline step up? RBs will be good as will the Defense. That's 7-5 and probably optimistic.  Losses against any of Arkansas, South Carolina and Auburn are also possible.  I don't think we lose all of them and conversely could win any of ND, Florida and Texas.  But realistically somewhere between 6-6 and 8-4... I think.

Our WR corps is shallow, no homerun threat at RB and our Oline sucks.  Weigman has 1st round talent, but we don't have much around him.  Makes for a mediocre year.

I thought Florida would "mail it in" after the Texas loss.  Clearly they didn't, to their credit.  And to think many fans wanted to fire the coach and bring in Kiffin.

Florida put it together, they were a fun team to watch this year.  Horns traveling to the Swamp and to Athens next year-- no cakewalk there. :)

Texas gets a preview of playing in the state of Georgia of course, though in a very different environment.  The Dome gets loud even if the fans are split, 40,000 indoors is enough to make noise.  The amazing thing is hot dogs are $2 each.

And there are two Chick-Fil-As on site.

My wife wants to buy a ticket for me as a Christmas present, but I am demurring.

Though hot dogs are a signature food, other affordably priced items on the Fan First menu include $2 refillable Coca-Colas, $3 waffle fries, $5 Bud Lights, $2 Dasani water bottles, $2 popcorn, $3 pizza slices and $5 cheeseburgers.

Something which has cost UGA in previous CGs is a QB change midstream.  They wouldn't have game planned the second (usually more mobile QB).  I can see that happening again.
