Top Programs of the leftover Big 12

After the exit of OU/UT who do you like to be the Top Dog in the XII?

#1 oSU. If nothing else they’ve been right there and steady
#2 Baylor. Gag me with a spoon but they play some good ball
#3. Toss up between tcu and Tech. I would have put tcu much higher but they have a new coach
#4 UH. I think UH has a lot of potential.

The rest hasn’t really showed much IMO. Not sure if it’s worth ranking them.

Cincinnati would be the only team that has made the playoffs.  I'd have WVU in the mix in the middle.

1. OSU. I believe that they have had the 2nd-best conference record over the past 10-12 years, only trailing OU.
2. Baylor. It makes me want to vomit to post that, but there it is. Would the Pac-12 like to trade Arizona for Baylor?
3. Cincinnati. Been to the CFP.
4. Kansas State. Always solid. When you seldom beat yourself, you will win many games.
5. Iowa State. Can they come back from last year's flop?
6. Houston
7. BYU
8. TCU. No Gary Patterson, no Horned Frog greatness.
9. WVU. 'Eers are in trouble. They've brought in a new OC to replace the old OC, who was (and still is) their head coach.
10. Central Florida
11. Texas Tech. I think the Red Raiders have regressed to their historical norm. Or worse.
12. Kansas

I may have all the new teams ranked too low.

Don’t know much about UCin. They seems to be as much a 11 win program as they are a 5 win program.

How will the fare playing power 5 competition week in and out ?

I believe tcu went into the XII with much fan fare but have a losing record in the XII.

Cincy with their current coach is going to be pretty good.  Therein lies their problem.  They also have a small stadium, ~35K, surrounded by campus buildings.  They can have a pretty raucus 35K, but they need at least 10 K more seats if they are successful longer term.  There are enough OSU rejects for them to field some talented teams.

The better players used to split between Miami(O), Ohio U, Akron, Kent State, and Cincy, now Cincy gets most of them.

I rap on Baylor as much as the next guy, but at least in football, the culture has changed. That starts at the top. Dave Aranda is a good man and he can coach a bit. It won't be long before he's back in the Big Ten or SEC.

Maybe even at Texas, after we fire Sark in a couple of years!

Maybe.

But there is only a finite number of coaches who can have their career-progression end in Austin.

He'll draw looks from a lot of kings/barons needing coaches.

Nebraska, Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, UCLA, Florida, etc. The usual suspects.

You think if Sark falls on his face again this year he'll get the axe in year 2?

I find it hard to believe Tom Herman left the program in that bad of shape that he finished 5-7.

I'm picking Texas to go 10-2 and get into the Sugar Bowl against UGA.
