WE haven't had a great oline since 2005.  We haven't had a good one since 2006.  We haven't had anything other than a tragically terrible oline, since 2015.

That covers 4 head coaches, 8 or 10 offensive coordinators, and too many oline coaches and S&C coaches for me to count.

So yeah I'm gonna go ahead and assume it will continue to suck, until it proves it does not suck.  And I ain't holding my breath.

Ever notice that every time there is a coaching change the new s&c coach is always so much better than the old one?  In particular I remember how the Coach Fran ( gag! ) essentially put out stories about how soft the old s&c coach was and how our team was like a country club etc. Meanwhile the old guy went on to the nfl and continued a long and successful career.

The next season the team went 4-8 and basically quit in like 2-3 games while repeatedly getting manhandled.

Yessir!
Reports are that <new guy>'s conditioning program is something the team hasn't ever seen. Several veterans were staggering by the end of the session. The players said they're intense, but they could see gains by the end of the first week. <Old guy>'s defenses suffered from fatigue, particularly in the 4th quarter. This is clearly a point of emphasis for <head coach trying to save job>.

I personally believe in Mike Tyson's former trainer Cus D'Amato (to the point where everyone's tired of hearing about it). He counseled that most of that "fatigue" was mental. A kid knew he couldn't quit due to pressure, but it was OK to quit if you're exhausted. In reality, you let that tired defense recover a fumble or make a critical stop that results in points, and these formerly "exhausted" kids will be flying around the field full of life!

4. Kansas State. Always solid. When you seldom beat yourself, you will win many games.
Well said.
Adrian Martinez, who helped Nebraska beat itself repeatedly, despite great athletic skills, did not drop the ball against OU, and did not throw an interception, while leading KSU to a surprising win on the road against OU on 9/24/2022.
The next thread should be titled, "Does changing uniforms, matter?"

Nebraska has the curse of the Billy Goat, or the curse of the black cat? I don't think so. What is the curse?
Nebraska had an MNC in 1999. The Chubs are actually cursed. They have world championships every 108-years.

1997, 99 was the last conference title

since they fired Fearless Frankie Solich, in 2003, they've been cursed

Frankie didn't look like he was going to be as good as Dr. Tom.

But, then, Dr. Tom didn't look as good at the start as Bob Devaney looked at the end of his career.

Frankie wasn't going to be there for 20 years, but he deserved better than what he got in 2003.

He should have been given a chance for at least another season with Pelini coaching the defense and after winning 10 games in 03.

Eventually, Frank was going to be released, but if your best replacement is Billy C., ya gotta keep Frank another season.

Osborne himself has stated he believes he would have been fired following the 1976 Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl if his team hadn't overcome a 24-14 3rd quarter deficit to get his 9th win that season.

the huge upset of Oklahoma in 78 probably saved his bacon again.

1981 was looking especially bleak when he lost to unranked Iowa to open the season and then Penn State the 3rd game of the season to drop out of the AP Poll. (My freshman year)  Luckily for Doc Tom and all Husker fans, sophomore QB Turner Gill came in and turned the season around.

Hubris. Nebraska fans and admins had seen the Huskers win 3 natties in 4 years, and expected more of the same. Winning the conference in '99 and playing in the NCG in '01 wasn't good enough.
Switzer was on the verge of being fired after 3 straight years ('81-'83) of 4-loss seasons and finishing 2nd in the Big 8. Then he played for the MNC in '84 and won it in '85, so he saved his job for another 3 years.

it was the 36-62 in Boulder and 14-37 in Pasadena in 2001 that got it started - those games weren't as close as the final score

2002 was what doomed Solich and I gotta admit things took a rough turn.
7-40 at Penn St.
14-36 in Ames
close heartbreakers in Stilwater and to the Horns in Lincoln

then closed the season 13-48 in Manhattan and 13-28 in Lincoln to Ralphie
with a bowl loss to finish 7-7

Solich was a dead man walkin at the end of the season

they forced out the D-coordinator and Pelini was hired

only 3 losses in 2003, but they were all blowouts

24-41 in Columbia
7-31 in Austin (Vince & Cedric had big days)
7-38  vs K-state in Lincoln was the last straw

Yep. Blowouts hurt.

Bob Stoops never fully recovered from 19-55 against USC in the 2004 (season) NCG. He wasn't "Big Game Bob" anymore.
He started the season 2-3, with losses to TCU, UCLA, and Texas (12-45, worst-ever loss to Texas, IIRC), and finished 8-4. Lost the next 3 BCS bowls he was in, including the 2008 (season) NCG vs. Florida.

there's one good reason he doesn't have the hunger to come back to coaching in Lincoln

Stoops? Has he been on the Huskers' radar?
