I'm picking Texas to go 10-2 and get into the Sugar Bowl against UGA.
I dont think 10 - 2 goes to the Sugar Bowl

but it is possible

My ridiculous guess is Texas 10-2 vs UGA 11-2.

Last year was Ole Miss at 10-2 vs Baylor at 10-2.

No, my GUESS is a loss at Miss State and then in the CG.  11-2.  They might beat Texas, if the players care about the game and show up, but they probably won't.

Y'all need to get your excuses pumped up and working ahead of time.

The ball is still pointy and bounces funny.
Texas was deserving of last season's 5-7 record, certainly. However, those were a lot of close games that could have gone differently with a better dice roll.

There's all the usual "intangibles" about self doubt and learning to win. Those are certainly true. Less intangible, and within reach of the team's control, are things like Left Offensive Tackle, and a pass rushing DE.

Texas has a lot of offense waiting to be unleashed. There's a backlog of "all the way" players at just about every position that's supposed to touch the ball on an offensive snap. The only thing lacking is the 3 seconds post-snap needed to make it all work.

Ay, there's the rub!

I'd certainly be thrilled with that!  Let's make it so.

Texas is usually the reverse of that.

We like to beat ourselves up over wins. How, if the opposing defense were better, we'd have lost surely! How close that 20 point win was, but it's just a mirage with garbage time points scored when the other team was desperate to win. We're gonna get killed by <whomever the next team is> if <insert position coach> doesn't get this fixed now!

Our pets' heads really are falling off!

Worth at least what it costs you to hear it . . . from an OU perspective, it seems like Texas fans are more-than-average delusional in pre-season and then more-than-average despondent once a couple of losses have been absorbed.

Lot of truth there.
Hard to post Top 10 recruiting classes and not approach the new season with hope. "Hope", sure, but the longer fall camp goes (now stretching in to summer conditioning), the more you hear reports that a key player is really emerging, and another unit is playing hard, and by golly, you've convinced yourself that all the troubles from last season were fixed! Show me a loss!

I keep reminding myself that, until I see the Texas Longhorn OL hold up under a hostile defense, it's the same liability it always was.
