I'm beginning to think that Nebraska has the same entitled expectations as does Texas. Of course you've just heard that they fired their AD of 5 years. For what? Losing. In Football.
Hmm. Problem is - When compared to Texas, I'm not sure Nebbie has the same opportunity to right the ship. And I'm not sure their fan base gets it.
Nebbie's best shot at recruiting was to go south, and supplement with corn-fed Midwestern boys. And that whole "partial qualifiers" thing didn't hurt either. But those days are gone. Now the Huskers sit in the B1G, with little to no southern exposure, and fight to lure athletes to the corn fields and away from Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, etc.
This doesn't look good for Nebraska, and their passionate, but entitled fan base. In the B1G, Nebraska serves the purpose of the Washington Generals, merely a helmet school to match-up against the aforementioned B1G blue bloods. And yes, it pays well. In the Big 12 however, the Huskers were the Globetrotters. Winning pays well also.
Husker fans are going to need a realignment, or else they will be firing AD's and coaches till the cows come home. The B1G holds no glory days in its future for Nebraska. There's no room for it, and Nebbie will never get the players.
