I just hope we still have a chance if our starting QB is injured

It's rare to go wire to wire with one QB.

That said, nobody is going to have a QB room full of seasoned backups any more. The kids put in too much time and money into developing in Jr. Hi and High school to sit on the bench and graduate. If you're any good, you're transferring out when it's apparent the job is filled for the next 3 years. I'm not sure I blame the kid either.

Frankly, Texas may have one of the better positions, having already redshirted one QB three seasons behind a multi-year starter.

320 makes a good point.   If Sam were to get injured, who replaces him?     No one with any playing time under their belt at all.    I don't want to think about it.
