Big 12 Basketball

Only two BIG 12 teams left.   OU plays Virginia  and Texas Tech plays Buffalo.  The winners are sweet 16 bound.

Hoping the horns beat TCU in the NIT tourney, that's great they  made the semifinals.
I know it's not the Big Dance, but still good to see them having some success where they are competitive.

Definitely putting my support behind TTU for the big tourney, hopefully they get er done.
Been fun watching UH make a run for it, too, as a local in these parts.

Shaka just bought him some breathing room for next year.   The guy has 3 years left on his contract and my guess is UT is going to let him coach another season.    Shaka has not done well at Texas.

UCLA may still buy him off us. Shaka's had a weird run, in that he keeps picking up these phenomenal one and done players. You can't say no to them, but they don't stick around long enough to build a long term program. Dylan Ostekowski is the type of steady senior influence that can really help a team, and Texas hasn't seen many in the last 5 years.

I'm cool with him staying. I'd like him to stay, but it is a results based business. So far, the results haven't been what Texas envisioned.

Smart's teams at VCU were more blue-collar, weren't they?  Maybe that's more in his comfort zone than coaching superstar one-year guys.

Vegas has Michigan State a three point favorite.    I hope Tech wins as well.

The BIG 12 is represented really well in basketball.   Texas won the NIT.  TT could win the national title Monday night and the Baylor women beat Notre Dame last night for the women's national title.   I would say the BIG 12 overall has done alright in tournament play.

Raiders played a tight game, coulda won it, too.  Never thought I'd see the day.  My Raider friends are still happy with the season, as they should be.

Congrats to the TTU fanbase for the incredible run & near-win!   Definitely a heart-breaker but still an exciting and memorable season for the red raiders.
