Not me. I was rooting for our American brothers to the South. It didn't work.

What a crappy way to decide a great game, by the way.

I enjoy watching a no hitter in baseball, but not in soccer

The remaining teams on a world map is as clustered as a US map showing the last 20 years of college football NCs (B1G teams playing the role of Argentina).

Yes it's extremely concentrated.  Only 8 teams have ever won the world cup.

Brazil - 5
Germany - 4
Italy - 4
Argentina - 3
Uruguay - 2
France - 2
England - 1
Spain - 1

If you're talking about Mexio, yeesh.  I love the country and the people, but their soccer fans are the absolute worst.  You can think of them as the Philadelphia Eagles fans of international soccer.

America: 10
Eurotrash: 12

Not terrible.

Be nice if the US of America could join the party. Needs structural reform and needs to be taken more seriously for that to happen.

Austin has a pretty hefty Brazilian sub-population, maybe the biggest demo after crackers and Mexican.  I got to know quite a number of them while there.  They sure did take their soccer seriously.

They seemed to anyway.  I didn't know enough to have any clue if they knew what they were talking about or not.  But they did like to talk about it while I nodded and silently wondered how long until kickoff.

Yeah lots of Brazilians in Austin.  A good friend married a Brazilian girl and our friend group was immediately adopted into their underground Brazlian mafia.  I've watched a lot of soccer with them over the years.

Same happened with a buddy of mine, and what you're saying here is a real thing.  He married a gorgeous Brazilian girl, and her mafia, as you say, adopted not only him, but me along with him.  Best part of that was, she had a slew of gorgeous Brazilian friends who were single.  I remember going to the houses of people I barely knew to watch soccer, and they were having these gigantic house parties.  Every game was like the superbowl.
