Some of you may have season tickets, maybe not many.  I'm looking at UGA at Vandy and at Mizzou and at GaTech, since I can walk to that one, and tickets should be pretty cheap.  I have been to the Tech stadium once, in 1971, when the Dawgs won late 28-24.

This used to be a serious game when Tech was good to very good every year.  The two losses to Tech at home in a row might have sealed the fate of a former head coach.

Getting to games is becoming more difficult due to other travel and such, but I think I'd like to see one in Madison this season. Maybe Michigan? We'll probably try to get to Indy for the B1G CCG this year, regardless of who is playing.

I'd really like to get to ATL for the SEC CCG again, but this time maybe get tickets. Last time we did not, but Yao Ming @GopherRock scoped us out a great bar to watch it in. I wish I could remember the name of that place. I do know we stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn, in Midtown. Perhaps you've seen it.

I'll be at Maryland, as usual, especially since I'm back in DC (I'll be at the BB game next weekend, too). Maybe Penn State, too, since that's in State College. I might go to Indiana, as well, since my sister is near Indy (likewise for the BTCG if Michigan finally makes it).

For home games, I'll probably try to go to Notre Dame, Sparty, and/or Iowa.

I havent yet scouted the season much, I think we're leaning Kyle Field for either AU or Bama.

N at Purdue seems likely, as does the Big CCG, which Badge we will be safely moved in by then, should we want to get together.

Well, obviously for my situation, seeing games in person isn't exactly easy.

That said, we're planning on a Chicago trip this fall, going to a Friday Cubs game followed by the TCU@Purdue game in September. My wife has never been to Chicago, nor [obviously] to West Lafayette, so it should be fun.

I'm toying with the idea of driving up to Reno for the Purdue@Nevada opener. But that seems a little gratuitous if I'm going to the TCU game, given that it's a 500 mile each way road trip to do it.

There is a new "beer bar" not far from us that is pretty awesome looking, very open, and they have 56 beers on tap or something like that.

https://www.citytap.com/location/atlanta/

I think there are a couple Marriott Residence Inns around here, along with a new AC Hotel and regular Marriotts and a W.  We also have a guest suite in the building that is $120, no tax, per night, but it is occupied at times of course and there is only one.  We stayed there three nights before we closed.

I paid about $300 for one nosebleed ticket for the SEC CG on SH, I hit it when they had a 20% discount somehow.  That was the cheapest seat in the house.  The good news is that hotdogs are only $2 each and other food is also moderately priced as is beer, it floored me, they kept the prices low for the SB also.

It's obviously easy to get tickets to most Tech games outside Clemson and UGA.

We don't usually dine in sports bars, the menus look boring, but we're trying a few around at times for lunch.  Hudson's Grille was decidedly mediocre, but they had a lot of TVs and beers.  There is a Taco Mac that has some mediocre reviews on line, if that is a factor.

I was surprised how loud it was in the stadium, but shouldn't be of course.  The dome was closed and it really retains the noise even of 35,000 fans on each side.

We stayed at the Residence on Peachtree NE - 1365. The bar was a few blocks away to the South and West. They had great food - not bar food at all. Not really a sports bar, per se, but they had the games on. It had a large courtyard in front of it.

I know where the motel is, but not the sports bar, there isn't much up that way really in terms of places to eat.

There is another Residence Inn on 11th Street.  You stayed nearer 17th street, which connects across the freeway to Atlantic Center that has bars and restaurants, but that bridge over the freeway is pretty long.

We live off 13th Street.  Kid #2 is due in today en route to Texas, permanent move.  The kitchen is still UC, dude is up there now, template due Friday for countertops.

I think you are in the LA area, right?  If so, and if you can make a long weekend out of it that is a beautiful drive with Red Rock, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe all along the way.
That game is Labor Day weekend so, assuming neither of you have to work on Labor Day and especially if you could get Friday or Tuesday off you could have a really nice trip there.
I Know what you mean.  I've done 500 mi each way trips to see games on regular (ie, no days off work) weekends and that is pretty crammed but if you already have Monday off and you can get Friday or Tuesday off that would make it a pleasant weekend.  FWIW: I'd suggest trying to get Tuesday off rather than Friday because hotels will be cheaper and things less crowded that way.

We stayed at the Residence on Peachtree
Based on my experience in Atlanta this is not helpful at all because every freaking street is peach-something street.

Yeah, LA... There would be some awesome scenery on that drive, and I'd probably try to stay up there the night after the game, drive back halfway to somewhere in the Sierra Nevada on Sunday to make it more manageable, and then drive the rest on Monday.

The big thing is that the game time isn't set. If I knew it was a night game, I could drive up first thing Saturday morning and still get there in time for the game. If it's a midday or afternoon game, that means I have to drive on Friday. taking a day off work as trying to get out of SoCal after work on Friday of a holiday weekend is brutal. That would probably be the dealbreaker.

The other question of course is if my wife actually wants to go to that one. Two of my three Boilermaker friends locally just moved away, and the third has a 1 year old at home, so I don't know if he's going to be able to get away or wants too. Given that we're going to a game at Purdue two weeks later, I'm not sure my wife would want to invest an entire weekend just to drive to Reno for the game. And since the guys who would make it a "boy's weekend" mostly moved away, and I'm not the type that's just going to drive up there alone, it could depend heavily on whether she's up for it.

I have the same issue with my wife but the major selling points if this were my situation would be Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon.  If your wife isn't interested in those then maybe Reno or Lake Tahoe?

For myself:
Due to yet-to-be-announced developments I will be more limited than in the past so there will be no road-game trips this year.  My brother and I each get to buy two tickets to one conference/premium game and up to four tickets each for the crappy games.  I think we will skip the crappy games and choose between Wisconsin on October 26 and Penn State on November 23.

In theory Penn State will be a bigger game (not necessarily because they will be a better team but because they are a divisional match-up) but I think we are leaning towards Wisconsin because it should be a better weather game.  I'm not sure.

Found it.

It was not a short walk, but not terrible at all.
