I wasn't watching, our feed got bounced.  I'd say up 28-17 is not too far from "cruising along" even though NW showed considerable offensive potential.

not sure any head coach is comfortable up 11 with that much time left

I know I wasn't and most Husker fans have seen bigger leads squandered in the past 4 or 5 seasons

if the person was watchng, they would have noticed that the Husker O-line was getting little push in the run game and not protecting the QB in the pass game
they also would have noticed the defense was giving up big plays and plenty of yardage

not most folk's definition of cruising

heck, any call is a bad call if it doesn't work

there's a pretty good chance, looking at the defensive performance, that if they would have kicked the ball deep, the Wildcats would have still scored but just put another 50 yards on the board

Sure, 28-17 is not a safe lead, but it's a decent lead.  I personally would never think of an on side in that situation.  I gather he didn't trust his defense to get a stop.

As you say, if NW starts at their 25 maybe it takes an extra 4-5 plays to get to midfield.

watching Big football in 60.............

cruising the the start of the 3rd quarter because of a scramble broken play big play pass for about 60 yards to set up a TD
then a fumble by Northwestern to give the Huskers the ball

then a 46 yard run for a TD to give them a quick 14 points that erased  being behind at the half

so, 3 big plays that were very uncommon and they're cruising

nothing sustained either side of the ball

same old Scott Frost team

O-line Sucks and no pass rush from the defense

I'm not impressed

Unfortunately the Huskers looked like the same team they've been the previous four seasons under Scott Frost. He's had four years to patch up an OL that got pushed around yesterday. He's had four years to tighten up a defense that yesterday gave up big plays, was pushed around on the DL, and was consistently out of position at linebacker. I see an interim coach leading out the team for the November 5th game at home Vs Minnesota.

So, North Dakota and Georgia Southern, should be wins, ha.  Oklahoma, almost not possible.   Indiana on 10/1 at home, a loss there and ....

An unimpressive win there might trip it also.  Rutgers/Purdue/Ill, should be three wins, any mediocre+ team now should be 6-2.   Then probably four losses in a row.

Yeah, I think after 10/1 ....

I tried to map out their numbers using the current projection systems.

unless something drastic happens, they look to be notable favorites five games, and probably slight underdogs in three more. Granted, those systems aren’t really built to account for the funk that program is in.

Watched a bit of the first half of the Illinois game.  Looks like Illinois has a good OL and RB in Brown.
A decade of Victory over Penn State.

All in since 1969

At times, our judgment of a team after a single game is inaccurate.

Didn't see but not sure what happened lots of folks complaining about an on side kick i want to say. Frost has certainly lost that once lofty luster, seems likeable but he might have to damn near run the table to save his headset

At Siesta Key beach now.  Could start raining at any time, but has held off so far.  Captain Curt's opens at 11, so I'll be heading there soon.
That's a great spot on the key.
