How many HCs are there that are better than Brian Kelly and James Franklin? Ten?

But you've got fanbases thinking their programs are top 5, so......

feel like there is not a whole lot better than Brian Kelly. as much as I can't stand the guy for being an unbelievable doosher- the dude has proven everywhere he's a good ball coach.

Franklin? there are A LOT better than him- all over bunch of different levels of ball.

It depends the kind of coaching you’re looking for, I think.

it also asks an interesting question about career and age. Like, do they have access to the versions of themselves that made Cincinnati, Central, Michigan and Vanderbilt good? Or is that no longer the case?

Even though it makes every Domer and ND fan cringe every time they hear it, Kelly is the all-time winningest coach at Notre Dame (measured just by total wins). While he never took them to the promised land, his teams were routinely very good. That was a substantial upgrade from the three coaches that preceded him (which is how he got to all those wins--that and the fact that seasons are longer now than they used to be).
