It wasn't under the table. He donated to NIL for one specific player, which is allowed.

Yeah, this part was obvious.

And I can't blame him.  I don't have near as much to give, but I'm sure as shit not about to give it directly to players who might or might not contribute, and might or might not be here the next year.  

I wouldn't give money directly to the coaches for much the same reasons.

Same here, including regular gameday attendance.  I haven't even bought any new gear in probably close to 10 years, everything I have now is either way old, or a recent gift.

I also skipped a trip to Neyland stadium this year in I can't remember how long.

I have always gone at least once.  I'm over it.  Thanks, NIL and transfer portal!

I drove up to Ann Arbor  3-4 times a year in the late 90's and early 2000's.. I could feel things change in the late 2000's and it started rubbing me the wrong way. The biggest eye opening "this doesn't feel right" was the Harbaugh's 2nd national signing day when they had that huge event at Crisler Center.. "signing of the stars." Since it's gotten 10x worse and now with what's going on at Utah it's going to go into hyperdrive.  It's tough because I love the game, but I hate the system. It's felt that way about a lot of things the last 2 decades.. I've tried convincing myself it's part of getting old but I honestly think a lot of good things have been ruined..look at the NBA.. it's terrible.. Major League Baseball in on warp speed as well as pay to win is so obvious.. and the gambling interaction is now absolutely destroying all good sports. May days I think i was born about 20 years too late.. although not sure i'd want to experience the destruction if i had another two good decades of the tradition and rivalries and more of the good of life.
