Based on my TV viewing during childhood, I thought quicksand was going to be MUCH more of a problem in my life than it has ever been...
Yup, it showed up often on TV as a menace.  I think the media generally hyped dangers like snakes, sharks, killer bees, fire ants, kudzu, etc. while mostly ignoring mosquitoes.

I vaguely recall the killer bees scare.  The other one is rabid animals, which of course DO exist at times.

I'll report back on Panama City Beach of course, I'm sure many here have visited before.  We're going on our 13th anniversay, as noted my wife likes beaches a lot, I like seafood (I see food, I eat food...).  I will have seafood of some sort every dinner and probably most lunches.  Three nights, we have to get back for a festival thing.

You should be able to find good seafood there, but in general I think you will not be impressed.

I enjoyed a short trip to Ft. Walton/Destin for a weddin - flew in late Friday, out Sunday
Beaches looked great - didn't have much opportunity to find seafood

I suspect the larger more commercial restaurants like the one I reserved use Sysco, mostly, maybe they have some fresh catch.  I try and find some "hole in the wall" that might have its own fishing operation.  If the seafood is about the same as what we get here, well, disappointing.

I just pulled up other restaurants at PCB and noticed a Red Lobster and a Dave and Busters.

I looked at Salt Water Grill and noticed the usual bevy of 5 star ratings and some 1 stars.  Few people ever say "3 stars, it about as expected.".

Go to the shacks. Stay out of the "fancy" places.
