When I hear a "Floridian" whining about tourists, I typically ask them what year they moved to Florida. Some get the point and shut up, some get the point and get mad, most are too self-absorbed to get the point.

I never whine about tourists.

Tourist are reason our taxes are so low/non-existent.

February 2020 for us. Permanent by May 2020.

I had to separate this one out.

We know how the population has exploded here since 2020.

Most of those people who came after that... they want to close the border.

Most definitely not a post-covid attitude. I've been hearing that sentiment since I've started going to Florida for work and personal travel a decade before covid. And I'm sure it existed long before that. It's the source material for my rant.

We didn't come down here much before we bought - just enough to know where we wanted to be, in general.

My experience is mostly limited to post-Covid. I don't think there was ever a huge population boom quite like that period.
