I'm in the process of planning a golf staycation (which is funny, because I suck at golf). It turns out there are a lot of great courses around here.

I'm curious if this crowd has a perspective on the kinds of courses to include on a multi-course trip?

This one is going to be a warm-up muni (with amazing views for a muni), then a world-class, difficult, club course that makes appearances in PGA/US Open golf, then a coastal course for the views.

sounds like you have a good mix for me
obviously depends on your group
it's nice to play a PGA course or one very exclusive once in a while
with the right buddies, I can have as much fun on a decent muni for way less money
nobody likes crappy courses that aren't maintained

I've never been on a "golf trip". My FIL and I played one round of golf when we went to Ireland, but it wasn't a "golf trip". At the hotel bar in Dublin we saw a group of Americans multiple nights that were obviously there on a "golf trip"--they looked ridiculously smashed at all times.

So as much as I play golf, I'm no help when it comes to planning a golf trip.
