What's the worst destination that you've ever visited?

For me, oddly enough, I'd say New Orleans.  I think my expectations were just too high.

I truly dislike Pigeon Force and Myrtle Beach as well, but I don't expect much there.

I did a gas main project there. I've never seen so much crime in one spot. It's probably even worse now. This was 2011.

I was on a side road (see below) making measurements when a group of 4-5 people began to follow me. They got closer and closer. I knew what was going on, for sure. I saw an old lady on her porch, and I walked up the stairs and sat down. She quietly said, "I know what you're doing - just sit here for a while". Brought me out some lemonade and I sat with her for 45 minutes or so.

That I went out of my way to visit?
Big Sur is beautiful, but the camping trip I did to just north of it was at a gross campground, and the hotel I've stayed in there was similarly crappy.
Longest freakin' sub sandwich buying experience of my life on the interstate somewhere in Georgia. It was like 30 minutes to get a sandwich when I was the only customer. Weird.
I was there for work, but I was thoroughly unimpressed by Fort Lauderdale, FL.

well, you were in the south.  Things and folks move a little slower down there

Oakland, CA

Interesting story: A few years ago, Under Armour had a contest where you designed a shoe. The winner got a three-day trip to Oakland and tickets to a Warriors game. I won it. We had to stay in Oakland but spent most of our time, other than the basketball game, in San Fran. Frustratingly enough, I didn't even get a free pair of the shoes for winning.

This was the shoe:

Fort Lauderdale... too much traffic. Too expensive.

I enjoyed Ft. Lauderdale.
But, that was in the early 90's, I was young, stayed with my cousin, and the Huskers were playing in the Orange Bowl

Sans the Big O at George's bar, Waco, TX.  Pretty dismal place, imo.

Yeah, you went there on purpose and it sucked.
