Definitely want a rental car on Kauai.

Everything SM wrote is accurate.

On the north side, Tunnel's Beach is really nice. Also the Blue Room is amazing up there. Nepali is an amazing hike. Not sure I could handle it anymore.

Staying in Lihui might be your best bet, actually. Kinda half-way from everything. There are places in town on the water, but also places just a bit North on the water, and less dinero.

Kapaa is a nice food town. So is Poipu.

A fishing charter out of Port Allen.

This cruise I highly recommend:

Kauai's Ultimate Na Pali Coast Eco Tour | Kauai Z Tours
Kauai's Ultimate Na Pali Coast Eco Tour | Kauai Z Tours

So much to do on that island.

This is making me want to head back out. There's just so much to do there and every bit of it is amazing.

lol.. YES PLEASE.. I'm still not sure I can fly, especially not that far, but I'm hopefully getting the thumbs up next week and testing a quick flight down to Florida.. Since my gift to my wife for our 10 year last year was brain surgery, I owe her a trip for being a dream wife this past year and Kauai is our favorite

Appreciate that CD. Unfortunately, the brain is one of the slowest healers i the body. That being said, I'm incredibly lucky for the outcome. I beat a lot of odds. Lucky for me, my wife is a surgical nurse and was well connected to put me in very talented hands under the knife.

Lucky for me, i did insane amounts of travel in my 20's and 30's so i'm ok to take a break. I'm just trying to get healthy so i can take my kids to some of those amazing places when they are an appropriate age to do it.. Although a board meeting in Kauai might force me to make a 1 year old fly on a plane for that long.

You know I'd be down. I've gotta hop on an airplane either way.

Unless you all want to come to SoCal for a traditional Big Ten November rockfight... Iowa is coming to UCLA on Nov 9. Given that most of our teams will never see the Rose Bowl again in a postseason sense, we might as well go check it out in season :57:

Well, looks like a Kauai helicopter tour is off the table. Turns out that every single one of the companies requires purchasing a second seat for any passenger over a certain weight (ranging from 230-250#). If I really focused on cutting weight between now and May, I could certainly sneak below 250#, but I'd probably have to stop weight training as I've actually been building muscle mass all of 2023... I know it's a safety issue, but it sucks to fail a weight restriction when I'm not even effing fat...

Trying to convince my wife to try a fixed-wing tour company. They do private tours in a Cessna (looks like a 172) and even with my giant carcass we're well within the combined weight limit, and it's actually significantly cheaper than the helo. Just need to get her to wrap her head around getting in a Cessna.

Three flights in a day is exhausting.

Carlsbad CA I assume?

Not sure how long you're in town, or what your plans are for food.

Pizza Port is good if you're looking for good pizza and beer. Recommend sitting at the bar for counter service as it's a chill place w/o wait staff. They do have wine if the Mrs isn't into beer.

Campfire is a good restaurant for dinner. Good food, good cocktails, wine, etc.

And of course Mexican food, seafood, sushi, although I don't have specific restaurants for each.
