Yes,  tough to tell with the hurricane.  This was the place we most wanted to tour and the ONLY place we had with bad weather in two weeks.  Bummer.

Our lunch in Syracusa:

We were cruising north out of Salerno and the terrain in Italy is interesting, the weather was fine, so I ordered up a bottle of "Champagne" (which as you can see isn't).  My wife scarfed some crackers and cheese from the cafe and we had a nice time on the "deck".

Very cool. The little heart on the below is the coordinates of where my wife and I got married in the little rose garden next to the Piazza...

After the ceremony, the officiant and the photographer walked us up to the Piazza where we had some of our pictures done overlooking the city...

Thankfully, we had no rain...

We've been there to dine three times and will do it again next time. Superb is an understatement.

The next stop was Malta.  I had booked a "hop on hop off" (HOHO) tour, not really knowing what there was to see.  So, we saw a good part of the island, nothing of real note to me.  A lot of history of course.

The next stop was Syracusa, Sicily, which was a very pleasant surprise.  We walked around a lot, had a nice meal (seafood), saw "stuff", clean neat city.  We both talked about returning at some point to see more of Sicily.  Next stop, Salerno, not all that great, to me, we did tour the Minerva Gardens which were kinda neat.

Did you hit Ortigia while in Syracusa? The chef/owner at two of the best restaurants in town here grew up there and still owns a home there.
