interesting observation.  I don't know how the specifically is playing into it.   Overall headcount is the bigger issue.   It's like the restaurant that has sections blocked off due to no staff, except the airlines still have the flights scheduled.    They can't serve the passengers, there aren't enough bodies on the tarmac, maintenance, crews to handle the flight load.   Put that mix in motion, and at some point Plane #1 which flies A to B, B to C, C to D, somewhere in b/t there's a delay somewhere, and crew on #1 can't get to C to get to Plane #2 to take it C-E. because Plane #2 needs crew from Plane #1.    Plane #2 C-E gets canceled.   crews timed out, or otherwise unavailable.  nothing wrong with the plane, there's no weather issues....And if there are those issues.  big problems.

Flying to Chicago today. Plane is full - we've been offered to bump. This flight will not be cancelled so we turned down the bump.

AA is only doing 1 non-stop per day to ORD from here now.

They used to have 4.

My wife and I flew to Savanna Ga a couple of weeks ago. Upon our arrivale, we waited for 2 hours for our checked luggage. As we had a friend come to the airport to pick us up, it not only inconvienced us, but our friend spend 2 hours in the cell phone lot waiting for us. I should have driven to Savanna, it would not have taken any longer.

Savannah airport is usually pretty good, or was years ago, small enough and modern enough etc.

Where do you fly out of?  I don't recall exactly where in Florida you are...

RSW - Fort Myers.

Sometimes we use Allegiant out of PGD, which is 15 minutes away. They go to MDW and RFD, but they have been a little sketchy lately. Pilots....

Well this will be my first flight since 2019, so I guess I'll just cross my fingers.  It's a direct non-stop so at least I won't have to deal with any problems at an intermediate airport.

Heading to Cancun tomorrow morning. Going to sit at the beach and at the pool, drink and do nothing else.

Amen brutha.

We're supposed to be headed to Playa del Carmen at the end of the month, although that trip might be getting pushed out for some family reasons.

I hear the red sargassum is a major problem this year, hopefully the beach will be clear for you.

Sounds great, no doubt you'll have a good time.  I love that area.

I looked briefly at a couple all inclusive places, they seemed like cruises except you stay in one place.

My wife did one a while back with her kids and liked it.

Fort Myers was not crowded, which is not surprising. Not many people visit Florida this time of year.

Plane was packed and O'Hare was back to normal - except that we got our bags in record time - by the time we made it down there, our bags were there. That has never happened.

The trams are back working there too, after 5 years of work for a 1 year project. But that's another story.

We landed and were in our rental car in 30 minutes. Kudos to ORD.

The All Inclusive places are great if you just want to relax and not think about anything.  As long as the food and drinks are good, it makes things quite easy.  And I've been to several that had excellent food.

Then sometimes you want your vacation to be an adventure, and/or experience local culture.  In those cases, the All Inclusive tends to limit you.

It's really two entirely different types of vacation, and I'm partial to both, depending on my objectives.
