let's see if I can annoy you.
Maryland - So I watched Ty Johnson's highlight video because apparently some think he's the second best back in the league. The turtle glasses are strong on that comment. He seems to go down on first contact, and his moves aren't very good. He does appear to be a good receiver. He's fast enough to break a big one if he finds a hole. Essentially, Maryland has a wide receiver playing tailback.
Michigan - Last year there were talks about how Wilton Speight may be one of the best QBs in the league. In the off season we heard about how amazing and how many recruiting stars were going to be catching balls. Now we are hearing about how good Florida's defense is. Here's a thought - Michigan's passing game simply isn't good.
Ohio State - Ohio State had more offensive yards than any other B1G team last week. They ran 86 plays and average 6.9 yards per play. That ranks them 4th in the B1G. I saw the game live and I had myself convinced their offense was just pedestrian. I expect a pretty big improvement from week one to week 2 as well. They might actually be the best B1G team, and the rest of us are simply in denial. This really rustles my jimmies.
Nebraska - Nebraska ought to go back to the triple option, as the whole forward pass thing just isn't working for them. They never seem to get any better than average. Also, this isn't the Big Twelve. Try playing some defense now and again. 36 points to a Sun belt team? This team will be lucky to make a bowl game.
Iowa - Let's try not to have another clunker at Iowa State. In the last 6 games against ISU, they have gone 3-3. Every year this team gets off to such a slow start -- Maybe they ought to take the Rich Rod approach and sneak some extra practices in.
Only Illinois could win a game and somehow look even like a worse team than we thought.
Wisconsin - Still seems to have some issues on defense, despite only allowing 10 points. Utah State had 4 turnovers, 93 penalty yards, and a missed 4th down conversion in FG range. I'm curious as to how Wisconsin's defense will perform against a good offense. Fortunately for them, it looks like they don't face a competent offense this year.
