Probably sounds a little better outside the car, under acceleration.

Straight pipes would hopefully be less expensive

TREMEC Just Released a Manual 6-Speed Transmission with the Same Mounting Points of the C8’s DCT
By Keith Cornett -Nov 3, 20250230

Despite all the features available on the C8 Corvette, there are some enthusiasts out there who just refuse to come to terms over the lack of a manual transmission. And who can blame them when there is nothing more fun than rowing through the gears of a manual Corvette?

Corvette engineers did look into equipping the mid-engine C8 Corvette with a manual gearbox, but as we’ve heard time and again, it simply came down to economics. By the time the C8 Corvette was in the process of development, GM was already sourcing an advanced dual-clutch automatic transmission from TREMEC and the costs and packaging requirements to do a separate manual transmission would simply make it too costly for the estimated 15% of buyers it would garner.

The Dual Clutch Transmission for the C8 Corvette was developed with TREMEC and the units are built in Wixom, Michigan. That DCT was also a challenge according to Tadge because no one was making an off-the-shelf transaxle DCT with just the right dimensions. “We don’t just find a DCT, an 8-speed DCT that plugs into this architecture with the right dimensions,” he noted.

Now that we are seven years into the C8 era, TREMEC is making news once again as they have just revealed a new transaxle 6-Speed Manual Transmission that offers the same packaging requirements, and more importantly, it uses the same mounting points of the C8. According to the official press release, “Gear shifts are controlled via cable that connects to the shift mechanism on the left side of the transaxle.”

If you're thinking about all of these modifications, why not trade it in for the ZR1?

not thinking about serious mods

the air filter was $80 and a 20 minute job by myself

post the $4k exhaust for utee94 - I have the performance exhaust option - sounds good
post the manual option for Cincy - he thinks it's sporty

ZR1 seems crazy to me
the Z06 is something I think about - checked a red/black 26 on the showroom floor the other day - $150K (more than twice as much as mine)

Yeah, it's one thing to upgrade performance a bit and quite another to more than double the horsepower (and costs).  The manual idea appeals to me.  I don't think the air filter change does much of anything, maybe one or two hp at red line, maybe.  The factory performance exhaust is fine, it gives 5 more hp at the top end and sounds neat when it opens.

Modern engines are difficult to mod cheaply except maybe some of the reflash options on turbo cars.

and was hopin for a bit better sound during acceleration

it sounds great and plenty quick/fast enuff to get me in trouble bone stock
