It's really a "sign of those times" and how bad cars were in general.

American cars from 1975 through 1990 (or so) were generally garbage.

It's a bit odd to me that I can't think of a movie that featured a Corvette to any significant degree.
Corvette Summer starring Mark Hamil of Star Wars fame.  Not a very well known movie, I've only seen it once or twice.  I think it was made after he made star wars, but before it was released.  So he was still kinda unknown.

I get the whole anti-Tesla  and Musk thing, and then I think about all the Hollywood weirdo's who I personally dislike but I still watch their TV's and movies.  Now they know how "we" feel.  :)

I can watch a movie I like with a star I don't and no one knows any different.  If I drive a Tesla, I have been making some sociopolitical statement which has reversed on me now.

I bought a Dodge Minivan in 1987.  It had 95 horsepower, and a 5 speed.  One needed to plan ahead to accelerate.  I did put 155,000 miles on it, donated it to a foodbank who told me they put another 30 K on it before donating it to some church.

cool, kinda pricey
3.9 litre V12??

this is a bargain, obviously less than $120,000

naturally aspirated 670-horsepower 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V-8 to 8500 rpm - the Z06 hit 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds - 100 mph came up in 5.9 seconds - quarter-mile mark in 10.5 seconds at 131 mph

It doesn't have the top speed of the big boys on the list but, 189mph would be enuff for me.
