I've commented many times on this thread, I don't really care about "performance." I'm not a speed guy, I'm not a track guy, so handling doesn't really factor into it either. I'm just looking for a weekend cruiser. I wouldn't even need the 289 although the exterior looks cooler with the 289 badge.
I have a friend with a '66 coupe. It's been maintained but not modified. I ride in it with him and drive it from time to time. Sure, it's rougher than a modern car. I don't really care. To me it's a piece of rolling art work and I'm happy driving such a car, weekend cruising around the lake, top down, wind in my face.
So yeah I'm still good with my dream car. But the modern Mustangs certainly are nice, I do enjoy driving my daughter's convertible.
