It has a Sport mode.  When it's not towing, that vehicle is pretty damn sporty.
Our Tuscon has a Sport Mode, and flappy paddles to boot.  The Sport Mode changes the screen coloration on the dash, and maybe it changes shift points, hard to detect that one.  I just put it in eco, there is also normal, which is no different from eco.

Definitely changes the shift points on the F150, it's easy to feel.

You can also use electronic tunes to gain significant horsepower.  I believe that voids the manufacturer's warranty but tuners gonna tune.

Ford F-150 Engine Options Compared: V-6, V-8, EcoBoost, or Hybrid? (motortrend.com)

3.5-Liter EcoBoost V-6: 375 hp, 470 lb-ft
This engine also uses EcoBoost turbocharger technology but bumps up displacement for higher output. The F-150's 3.5-liter twin-turbo gasoline V-6 produces 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Ti-VCT, PFDI, and auto stop-start are also included.

This engine makes the best F-150 for towing and hauling. Towing and payload are significantly improved, measuring at a maximum of 13,200 pounds and 3,230 pounds, respectively. A 10-speed automatic transmission channels power to the wheels, those being the two rears or, optionally, all four. This 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine can be had in the F-150 Lariat, F-150 King Ranch, and F-150 Platinum.
V-8 vs. EcoBoost? We appreciate the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6's ample power, nice sound, and strong trailering .

Yup that's how I feel.  I could never go back to towing with a standard V8 gasser.  If I ever switched from this engine, it'd be to a diesel.  But that opens up a whole new area of maintenance and concerns.

With the price of Diesel coming down (which could be temporary), I'd give a look at the Diesel truck option.

The Diesel hybrid combo we've discussed doesn't seem to happen.

My last three vehicles were turbos, and I like them for obvious reasons.  The current one is a hybrid which serves as another kind of "turbo" and seems to work seemlessly.  (I actually wonder how it works often when driving it, I can't discern when the electric cuts in or when the engine cuts in.)

Diesel fuel prices drop again, remain lower than a year ago while gas is up | FleetOwner

Spring fuel prices continue to favor drivers, with the national diesel price average reaching $3.848 per gallon and gasoline $3.608, depicting an overall decrease in price for both fuel types across the country.

I filled up with regular at $2.85 at Costco last week.   We're getting mid30s mpg with this thing, a bit less than the GTI on the highway and better around town, and the GTI wanted the good stuff.
