SOC 2022-11-05: How the West was won
« on: November 05, 2022, 07:19:10 AM »
We start to sort things out today, with Purdue-Iowa and Minnie-Little Red going at it. UI and UW play crossovers.

Not really any food plans today as we are going out tonight. I'm thinking maybe depression dogs.

Gonna head to the gym soon and then hit the range to work in a new rifle. Probably mix in a little body defender practice too.
U RAH RAH! WIS CON SIN!

Checking in from Lincoln. Going to get breakfast in a bit, then head down to meet Fearless and his motley band of ne'er do wells.

Weather is very pleasant. Low 30s at the start but warming up as the day goes on with plenty of sunshine. Driving out of the storm system yesterday on 80 at sundown felt like driving into the apocalypse.

Stayed up too late watching the Pac 12 game. Trying to motivate myself to get in a little run before I have to head to the bar to watch the badger game.

Overcast here all day apparently, and in Athens too I guess, no rain apparently, it's possible.  Black coffee as usual.  Managed to sleep fairly late.  Headed to Vancouver, BC Tuesday to see daughter.  Rainy there the whole trip sans one day, with snow possible.

Game of the Century again today?

I saw somewhere this is the highest ranked pairing every played in Sanford Stadium.  In 1942, # 5 UGA played #2 Ga Tech (and won handily 34-0).  They played #3 Alabama earlier at Grant Field for some reason in Atlanta (and won).

Checking in from Southern California. Was out at the bars later than I meant to be last night (11PM) buying shots of Jameson with a Humboldt County hippie chick (it’s California) but woke up just fine. Plan today is to head up the road to my brother’s to watch Tennessee-Georgia. Him and his wife will probably invite me to stay for a few more hours to catch at least the first half of FSU-Miami and Clemson-Notre Dame. For lunch I’m bringing along the Trader Joe’s pizzas they’ve come to like since trying gluten free (it’s California). Before heading up I need to clean up my place, load/run the dishwasher, and sort out the aluminum cans from my trash for leaving with the homeless neighbors on my block to refund (it’s California). After a week of dropping temperatures and rain, the weather is sunny enough to tan again (it’s California).

Anyway, enough of California. On Monday I returned from my East Coast trip, stopping through Indianapolis, Richmond VA, and Auburn/Montgomery AL and thought I’d share a few autumnal scenes we don’t quite experience in the Southwest.

Uncle’s neighborhood on the north side of Indianapolis:

Cousin’s morning walk along a foggy lake outside of Richmond VA:
