I had a different perspective from Row 1, today.

This was a well-played game by each team's Australian punter. They are 27 and 28 years old. They pinned the other team down near their own goal line repeatedly. The Rutgers punter more so than the Iowa punter but only because Iowa was punting from deep in its own territory sometimes, and Iowa punted fewer times. Iowa started inside the 5-yard line, regularly. I don't think this one quite made it inside the 5.
Iowa's Offensive Tackle Tristan Wirfs is a physical specimen like I have never seen before. He grew up about 45-miles from our little town and played in high school against our local high school. He is darned good. The entire offensive line works as a team this year. They gave up one sack, but QB Stanley was not otherwise hurried or threatened. To the extent Iowa had difficulty in the passing game, it seems to relate to the QB play. He is inconsistent. Iowa played four RBs, if you exclude the receiver who lined up as a tailback for one play, but didn't touch the ball that play. Last year's starter, Ivory Kelly-Martin is now 4th string, but he had a nice reception today
Rutgers put up 42 points on an FBS team last week. This week, Iowa shut out Rutgers 30-0. The Iowa defense was stingy. I was the most impressed by the defensive play of CB Michael Ojemudia. AJ Epenesa menaced the grilles of the Rutgers QBs.
I have not seen an Iowa team so deep in talent at key positions such as wide receiver, offensive line, and running back.
Iowa is not so deep at the defensive back positions, and I believe one of the starters has been out, but being down one DB hasn't affected them. If there are any other injuries back there it will. The results the first two weeks point toward an Iowa-Wisconsin showdown for the Big Ten West title.
