No guarantees. But it seems likely. 

Doesn’t matter anyway. Come 2027 I’m going to be doing something else. It’s only a matter of me turning in my paperwork or them.

Well sure but getting a package is better than not getting one if the result is the same either way... :)

The amusing thing to me is how I get up every morning at 5-6 AM, occasionally 7 like today.  When i worked, I wanted to be at my desk by 7:30, so I set the alarm for 6:30, and struggled to get awake.  I probably stayed up later of course, but I was awake at midnight last night, slept about 7 hours, feel fine, didn't get up to use the bathroom.

I like being up early, usually, it's quiet.

Why do you like the desert?

That was my dad’s COVID plan. That and they were moving the company. 

We were also in year 4-5 of “ they don’t let me work on some of the bigger project. It’s like they think I’m gonna leave or something.” (My response, “I mean, that’s a good approach by them?”)

I'm about 6 years from being ready to take a package.  Right now I need to get both kids through college with my current setup.

Which should be alright, since my boss just asked me to take on about double the amount of work I'm currently doing, and will be paying me accordingly.  I've got probably 3 years in this current gig before I've trained AI well enough to replace me and my entire team.  So I need to work out another 3-year gig at my current employer and then I might make a move.

I did get a package, it included "retiree health insurance", which was big because I was 58.

Initially, only managers at my level qualified, I was very steamed.  My bud said they wouldn't get enough and they'd eventually open it to folks like me, and five months later they did.

Heh, I "signed up" when they offered the op to "consult", I knew nobody would call me, and they didn't.  I would have gone up for a day to "consult", that's about it.

I still have a "gold ID" somewhere, if I didn't misplace it.  It allows me to get into most facilities.
