You do NOT want to own a restaurant for a living.  If you think there are things about your job that make you miserable now, oh boy, it can get worse.  Much much worse.

Now I will say that if I won the $800M dollar lotto, then it's possible I'd open up and cook at a BBQ restaurant just for fun.

It would probably only be open 3 or 4 days per month, but on those days, the food would be glorious.

I think I’d open a hotdog stand, fewer options tha BBQ and quicker to cook.

Sure but I enjoy cooking BBQ.  Just not every day, and not if my livelihood depends on it.

I often thought if I got a massive windfall like that, I'd consider opening up a brewery. Something that I could pay staff to manage everything day-to-day, and just enjoy the "good" parts of ownership. 

As I get older, I think when I hit my number, I'm just going to hang it up and be done. I don't need those headaches.

Well yeah, I'm talking about the kind of wealth where I care so little about the numbers that there are no "headaches" to be had.  Just producing tasty food or beverages on a schedule I'm happy to live with.

I mean, there's no way I'm just going to sit around in retirement and do nothing. We'll certainly travel, but there will be plenty of time around the hometown as well.  Watching TV all day just ain't my thing.

I might perhaps buy a bar/restaurant for the daughter & Son-in-law to run.

Although I did get $278 from a class action lawsuit against Blue Cross/Blue Sheild (those bastards) and my oldest asked if we had gotten our Facebook check yet...maybe...

Back to quitting lawyering and moving to a retirement community in the middle of Florida and paying my bills....that ain't a fantasy!

The retirement places we’ve seen in Florida were not our style.  Living in the middle of a large city does sound weird though.  I guess I’m flexible.

Having enough money to get by is quite useful.

Oh, there are always headaches. Such as if someone--anyone--knew that the owner of "utee94's BBQ" happened to have a couple of hundred million dollars? You'd be an immediate target for anyone with a propensity to sue and willing to scheme a way to say you'd done something wrong. I'd venture to say that your restaurant would experience a surprising number of slip & fall accidents...

I'm also the type that wouldn't sit around and do nothing. But that's what hobbies are for.
