I know AI will replace my specific job within the next couple of years.
So now I have a choice to make. The answer to my current situation, as it is for many in my position, is to level up and become the guy responsible for checking and correcting the AI. That's easy enough, I'm positioned well to be that guy.
But I'm trying to figure out-- do I really want to? Is that something I'd actually be interested in doing?
I've got about 10 years to go before retirement. I've got to get the kids through college, and then a few more years to continue padding the bank account. It doesn't even necessarily need to be at my current income level, it just needs to be good enough.
So I'm coming to the point of being able to pick and choose, maybe do something FUN, which is a luxury I've never really allowed myself before.
