Authentic.
This is probably the most authentic Italian I've had in the US.

Dinner | Trattoria Stefano
Pshhht, they use tomato sauce. Italy didn't have tomatoes until well after Columbus discovered America. Authentic my ass.

I'd rather dine at a place that had really good food than a substandard place that was "authentic".  This probably rules out Olive Garden.

Olive Garden has authentic American casual dining chain all-you-can-eat pasta-bowl and no place in the world does that more authentically than Olive Garden.

Fazoli's is a poorly done knock off of Olive Garden.

I've heard of that place, don't recall ever eating at one.

When I was in high school Olive Garden and Chili's were some very nice options to impress a date.

And TGI Friday's was super-fancy and you were guaranteed to get some action if you took your date there.

Action meant kissing, of course.

The thing is, if I want semi-authentic tacos cheap around here, I have manifold options, other than WH.

Hmm, those don't look like tacos at all.  They look like "breakfast" tacos.  That's too bad.
Yes, I realize Waffle House is a breakfast place.

btw, kudos to Taco Bell actually, as you can order from their whole menu from the time they open.  A rare and prudent thing.

I credit places that try new things, usually, even when they seem doomed to fail.  I've been wrong about that.

There must be ten "mexican" places in walking distance of us, if I want tacos ... which I rarely do except on occasion at home.  My wife likes'em.

There is one Waffle House down near Tech, maybe a mile or so.  That makes sense to me.  It's on the bottom floor of a fairly tallish building, not stand alone, so it looks odd, to me.

We went to our authentic dive last night. I love that place.
