What I'm saying is that historically, if they unbundled and stopped forcing all the non-sports-watchers to subsidize ESPN, you'd actually end up paying MORE than 82.99 per month.

The only way to unbundle it and your price for sports to actually decrease, would be for ESPN to take a massive pay cut. And maybe they will, but it's really not in Disney's nature to decrease prices over time.
well, $82.99 is for over 100 channels

if they have a sports lineup with less than 30 channels, there's some savings in omitting 75 other channels (not all of them are free)

Going against the suggestions here of hopping into the stock market early last year and going with gold.  For some reason, I figured the Fanta Fascist would create instability.
15% gains vs 54% gains

Math is fun.

I'm very pleased with my 31% return in 2025.

Just rebalanced, a little more conservative now.

I don't think I have any precious metals - I'll have to ask my advisor
I'm pretty sure I don't own any crypto

No precious metals or crypto for me. Too volatile IMO.

I was buying some silver rounds up to $40 when I stopped.   Have some stocks in precious metals area.

You shoulda invested in silver, it's up over 280%

I have a small amount of physical silver, and I just noticed the other day that its price finally had exceeded what I bought it at.  Which I don't exactly remember, but I when I've checked the receipt in the box, I know it had mostly gone down since I had decided to buy it some years ago.  I just saw a week or two ago that silver was way up.

I didn't buy it as a tradable asset though, or I'd be looking to sell now, I guess.  I bought it as a doomsday barter tool and haven't really concerned myself with what the price has done.  I bought the boxes of coins as an "Oh crap" backup, and I'll just keep them on the off chance that the dollar implodes and I need to trade a farmer for some milk or something.

I've never understood well the gold/silver investment stuff.  It is frequently advertised as hedges against the dollar, particularly if the economy goes way sideways.  What I don't understand is, if things went to hell, gold/silver would only do you any good if you physically possess it.  Having a piece of paper that says you own some somewhere that some company has stashed away in your name isn't going to help you out much.

But, I'm not too savvy in that kind of thing, so what do I know.  If the world went to hell, I'd be one of the first to be weeded out, economically speaking.

I've never invested in gold/silver for essentially that reason. We have this weird belief that gold/silver are "real" money. But... Why?

If we ever get to the point where the SHTF, the most valuable things to own will be barterable goods and firearms/ammunition. Not gold/silver. IMHO of course.
