My wife wanted to go to a farm and pick peaches, so I set it up for today, to a place about 35 miles to our south. Got there, the place is kind of a mob scene, cars parked deep in a grassy area. We go up to pay and the young couple in front of us with a small kid paid $55. To pick peaches. Huh. When I was a kid, we'd do this and come back to a farmer standing at the edge who'd look at your bags and say "Yup, about a dolluh and half."
So, we turned around and went to their main store which had peaches already picked at an OK price and some other things. Spent $29 on stuff, my wife said just now the peach she ate was really good. On the way back, I stopped at Panola Monutain State Park and we walked around a bit. They have an interesting nature center, you can't walk on the mountain except on guided tours, usually one a week. It's like a small "Stone Mountain" (which is pretty large) but has been preserved from humans, mostly.
Drove back the back roads a bit and had lunch at Fox Bros which is always a good idea. I tried their ribs, which ... are not as good as their brisket. Have plenty left over for dinner. My wife is cooking some of the peaches, they are ones she bought that are bruised. Doesn't make a lot of sense to pay extra for "fresh" and then cook them, but whatever.
I'm a bit tired now and not hungry, may take a nap.
