It meaning peck or kiss is slightly less creepy than talking about dicks to third graders, but not much. Now you're going on about peaches and a pair of balls?

I can always count on you to double down for someone else, especially when it's something creepy.

Anyway, today's the last day of school for my 11th grader and my 9th grader.  It's a half-day and my 11th grader only has two classes, and they're both band.  So she's skipping, and she's happy.  And that makes me happy.

My poor 9th grader still has an assignment to finish though, so he has to go to school.

Nice weather here again today, I'll take advantage.  My wife is off to pilates which she swears by, and I'm sure it's good for her.  She has mumbled a bit about going to the gym with me, I told her I could show her some good stuff with light weight that would help some, but she's not really interested.

We got about 1/4" of rain during a thunderstorm in the middle of the night, and so it's nice and cool this morning.  Went for a quick 3 mile run earlier this morning, it felt great.  That makes me happy too.

I can't do a "quick 3 mile run" any more, I can do 3 miles run/walk, but even my run is slow.  I usually do the first mile "jogging", then run/walk the other two.  I run hard enough to max out respiration.  Our pool is open now, our site maintenance guy did a superb job cleaning it, parts had gotten a bit grungy, it looks brand new now.  We'll be using it frequently when the weather gets hot.  Tuesday we're off to SD and PS.

I can do a quick mile on the elliptical in less than 12 minutes
2 miles at a 4mph pace takes around 30 minutes, maybe I'll try to get 3 miles someday.  Maybe turn down the resistance from 9 to 3 or 4?
I'm happy I'm still regularly using it.

Maybe 3 years ago I was happy to be running a mile in under 11 minutes.  That was a strain, but I could do it using my watch, on the track (which has 200 meter markers).  I'm over 13 minutes now.  I think I can get under 13 with more running, we keep going out of town.  My weight loss efforts thus far keep bouncing around netting about zero.

The good news, I think, is I'm still out there doing stuff.

I'm finally back to being able to do a relatively quick 3 mile run in under 30 minutes.  I try to do that 3 times per week, during the week.  And then on Saturday or Sunday I usually work in a 5 mile run, or a 10K on a Sunday if I'm training.  There's a 10K coming up in a couple of Sundays from now that I'm signed up for, it'll be the first official one I've run in several years.

One year ago, I couldn't even run a mile without stopping.  I'd let myself get very, very out of shape.  Never again... I hope.

Getting back in shape makes me happy today.

As much as I enjoyed the 38 days away, it is good to be home in the heat.  Nothing like floating in your pool with an adult beverage, smoking a good cigar and listening to classic rock.

Nothing like floating in your pool or on the lake with an adult beverage, smoking a good cigar and listening to classic rock.
