She was happy to be spending "money" or value of a sort, by being able to do something for her child.  I suspect all of us who have children understand that.

He's a super "kid".  (He's not a kid of course.)

understood.  doing something for children and using earned points or miles is a double whammy in my book

Drilled two good wells last week.  At least my crew did without my direct involvement. Got enough money in the bank to pay all the bills and payroll.

I liked mowing our yard except when it rained all week and I couldn't and then had to try and mow it still wet and very tall.  My Snapper ride on gave out and I bought a pretty nice mower from HD "used" for $200, I thought that was a deal, and it was.  The mower had grass stains on it, a bit, someone used it once and returned it, it was in great shape.  I had to walk behind it but that was fine, and it mowed better than the Snapper.  By then I was at my wife's house which had a smaller grass yard.

I didn't like bagging, I would have to stop every so often to dump the clippings, but it made the yard look really nice.  For relatively little effort I could sit on the deck and admire my handiwork and the wife would bring me a cold drink.

Her yard slopped down the back to a green belt, it was really nice, but I decided to terrace some of it that was a bit wild.  I ended up digging up huge flat rocks of limestone to build the terrace, some so large and heavy I could only move them a bit with a pick.  That area was all about limestone.  I was pretty proud of my walls though.

I planted a lot of flowers back in the ungrassed area that would come up early Spring, always a good time.  Just reminescing makes me happy.

This is me at lunch at a spot on the Gironde River.  I was driving back to Bordeaux and out tiny motel room using a "back road", which is saying something, it was one lane but two way, along the river, a bit hungry, and we spotted this place, stopped, and inquired if they were still serving.  The lady told us they would make something for us though it was after 2 PM.  It was terrific.  They had a B&B "castle" across the road they showed us after we ate, I think my wife took their information somewhere.  We were their only customers for lunch.  I left a large tip which they no doubt found surprising.

A buddy of mine, an Ohio State fan, took a trip to Oxford to see Ole Miss host UGA.  Ole Miss whomped the Dawgs bad that day but it was a great time.  This is in The Grove, at a TG where folks hosted us.  After the game we came back and some players from OM came by to watch other games, I think these folks were connected.  They had a great TG and wouldn't take my money.  My buddy is wearing an OSU hat and UGA shirt.

Folks take gillions of photos with their phone, I wonder idly how many ever good looked at afterward.  I'm at the CFB HoF which oddly enough my wife enjoyed (or claimed she did).  She does like doing things that make me smile, usually.

I had a 60th birthday party in our back yard with hundreds, well, tens of friends, and had this guy come and play with his son, I really liked his music.  We had a burger truck set up out front, and a lot of wine pouring.  Yes, I was libated enough to try and sing, but not much.

This was the core of our "wine group" at the local wine bar in Glendale, OH.  We showed up every Friday and spent way too much money.  I proposed to my wife in that room in the back on April Fool's Day a few years back.
