went through hundreds of pictures with my sister yesterday and today, cataloging and getting ready to scan some to the computer and get them all updated to link with my genealogy program (Family Tree Maker--which is super great, btw) reminiscing with sis and crying both with grief and sometimes laughter over some of the candid photos taken of family members over the years.  I have some huge photos of my great-great-grandparents on my mother's side that I am still trying to figure out how to get downsized to scan --the pictures are so old they are stuck to the glass and the frames weigh a ton, lol.

I inherited the lot from my dad when he died in 2011, and I am still working my way through 2 file cabinets (down from three) full of documents that need to be cataloged and scanned.  Needless to say it is a good thing I am retired cause it takes a lot of time to get through some of this stuff.  I also a five shelf bookcase that is full of binders of family histories (four families), alphabetized obituaries (5 of those) two cemetery binders and three of alphabetized already scanned photos.  I think at last count I had a little over 2300 photos on my computer (and backed up to flash drives --can you imagine if my computer crashed?)

all of this to say that I am so happy my sister lives with me and we keep our family history alive going through photos and documents and adding our memories.  Sis is 16 months older than I and both of us are in our early 70's so having her help to get all this accomplished is a boon.  Hopefully, someone in the next generation will carry on.
